Northeast-10 Men’ s Swimming Athlete and Freshman of
the Week
Ryan Brauer, Saint Rose (Fr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) - Registered a
combined five first place finishes throughout a double dual at
Southern Connecticut and a home dual versus Bentley. Met a pair of
NCAA Championship B cuts with a first place time of 2:08.09 in the
200 breaststroke and a 1:56.58 clocking in the 200 IM. Was also a
part of the winning 200-yard free relay team that hit the wall in
1:29.50. Versus Bentley, touched first in the 200 free, the 100
butterfly and the 100 breaststroke. Swam the 200 free in 1:45.49,
finished the 100 fly in 52.93 and the 100 breast in 59.89.
Northeast-10 Women’s Swimming Athlete and Freshman of
the Week
Katie O’Donnell, Le Moyne (Fr., Delmar, N.Y.) - Won three
individual events and teamed for a relay win in the 162-138 loss to
Ithaca. Placed first in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.87 seconds,
won the 200-yard backstroke in 2:09.64 and topped the field in the
100-yard butterfly in 1:00.09. Swam the anchor leg of the 400-yard
freestyle relay team's victory in 3:44.80.
Northeast-10 Men’s Diving Athlete of the
Week
Jon Andrews, Bentley (So., Southbury, Conn.) - Captured both
one-meter diving events during a dual meet at Saint Rose, with
scores of 171.00 and 255.05. In a triangular against Wheaton and
Bridgewater State, only competed in the one meter, finishing second
(229.75).
Northeast-10 Women’s Diving Athlete of the
Week
Emily Travers, Bentley (So., Brentwood, N.H.) - Had two firsts and
two seconds during the week. Against Wheaton and Bridgewater State,
was first on the one-meter board (223.05) and second on the
three-meter (223.90). Also had a first and second at Saint Rose,
both in the one-meter, with scores of 148.00 and 222.70.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Jill Capadanno, Assumption (Fr., Dracut, Mass.) - Placed 5th in the
200-yard freestyle (2:09.20); placed 4th in the 200-yard butterfly
(2:25.90); finished 5th in the 500 yard freestyle (5:43.46);
finished 8th in the 400-yard medley relay (4:36.54); finished 5th
in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:05.30); finished 7th in the
200-yard freestyle relay (1:52.29); finished 8th in the 200-yard
medley relay (2:07.94) in a tri-meet with Norwich and Saint
Michael’s.
Willie Connolly, Bentley (Jr., Washington, Conn.) - Won four of
five individual races during the week and participated in two
winning relays. Against Wheaton and Bridgewater State, helped the
Falcons prevail by finishing first in the 50 backstroke (25.09),
200 back (1:59.76) and 200 individual medley (2:04.57). Also swam
on Bentley’s winning 4400 medley relay team (3:45.56). At
Saint Rose, was first in the 50 back (54.04), second in the 200
individual medley (2:04.39) and a member of the winning 200 medley
relay team (1:42.15).
Anne Kaduboski, Bentley (So., Dedham, Mass.) - Won her first five
races of the week before having her dual winning streak halted at
46 with a second-place finish in the 500 yard freestyle (5:24.49)
at Saint Rose. Touched first in the 200 free (2:00.07), 200
backstroke (2:14.07) and 200 individual medley (2:15.99) during a
triangular with Wheaton and Bridgewater State. Captured the 200
free (1:59.87) and 100 butterfly (1:00.69) at Saint Rose.
Sam Laden, Bentley (Jr., Cheshire, Conn.) - Was a triple-winner
against Bridgewater and Wheaton in a triangular, touching first in
the 50 backstroke (28.59), 50 freestyle (23.02) and 200
breaststroke (2:19.04), and also participated on the winning 400
medley relay team (3:45.56). Was the runner-up in both the 100 free
(50.35) and 100 breast (1:02.24) at Saint Rose after helping
Bentley win the 200 medley relay (1:42.15).
Drew Acquaviva, Le Moyne (Fr., Delmar, N.Y.) - Won two individual
events and teamed for two relay victories in the 160-138 loss to
Ithaca. Won the 100-yard backstroke in 54.79 seconds and the
200-yard backstroke in 2:00.35. Swam the first leg for the
pool-record setting 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished in
3:14.51 and led off for the first-place 200-yard medley relay team
(1:38.66).
Ricky Chidsey, Le Moyne (Sr., Liverpool, N.Y.) - Won two individual
events and teamed for a relay victory in the 160-138 loss to
Ithaca. Won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.32 and the 100-yard
freestyle in 47.39 seconds. Swam the anchor leg for the pool-record
setting 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished in 3:14.51.
Tierney Carey, Saint Michael's (Sr., Newtown, Conn.) - Won both
one-meter diving competitions in a tri-meet victory versus
Assumption and Norwich. Totaled 324.4 points in the two event.
Katie Kelley, Saint Michael's (Fr., Jefferson, Mass.) - Won three
individual events in a tri-meet victory versus Assumption and
Norwich. Took the 50-yard backstroke (30.64), the 100-yard
backstroke (1:06.36), and the 100-yard individual medley
(1:08.91).
Eileen Mullowney, Saint Michael's (Fr., Burlington, Vt.) - Won two
individual races - breaking her own program record in one event -
in a tri-meet victory versus Assumption and Norwich. Took the
500-yard freestyle in 5:17.01 (winning by more than 27 seconds, and
besting her program record by more than six seconds), and won the
50-yard freestyle (25.61).
Caitlin Peterson, Saint Rose (Fr., Sherrill, N.Y.) - Had a first
and second place performance and also anchored the 200 free relay
quartet that swam a 1:45.48 in a double dual meet at Southern
Connecticut. Had a second place time of 10:49.82 in the 1,000 free
was nearly 20 seconds swifter than the previous school mark that
had stood for 16 years, while her victory came via a 56.23 clocking
in the 100 free. In a dual win versus Bentley, swam a winning 500
free time of 5:18.36 and touched second in the 200 free with a
2:00.13 clocking.
Bryan Shaver, Saint Rose (Fr., Burnt Hills, N.Y.) - Contributed
three individual first place performances and led the 200 free
relay contingent to a winning time of 1:29.50 against Southern
Connecticut and Queens. Also touched first in the 200 free in
1:49.21. Against Bentley, won the 500 and 1,000 free in 4:55.17 and
10:10.90.
Kristen Frost, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Madison, Conn.) - Tacked
on the second victory in the 1000-yard freestyle event in 9:49.09,
beating her previously set national record. Followed with a victory
in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.36).
Miguel Nesrala, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Santo Domingo, D.R.) -
Grabbed a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.99. Was
also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team.
Jennifer O’Neil, Southern Connecticut (So., Stratford, Conn.)
- Completed the 200-yard IM and 200-yard butterfly events with
times of 2:15.69 and 2:15.90. Also contributed in the first place
finish of the 200-yard medley relay.
Benjamin Prue, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Alpharetta, Ga.) -
Collected a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke against
Queens and Saint Rose. Swam the event in 2:03.10. Contributed in
the 200-yard medley relay victory.
Aaron Rocheleau, Southern Connecticut (So., Newington, Conn.)
– In a tri-meet versus Saint Rose and Queens, notched a
second place finish in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:57.16.
Tacked on a victory in the 200-yard butterfly event, finishing the
race in 1:59.99. Was also a part of a victory the 200-yard medley
relay race.
Matthew Sorena, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Brookfield, Conn.)
– In a tri-meet with Saint Rose and Queens, nabbed a first
place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle event. Completed the race
in 9:35.38. Tacked on another victory in the 100-yard freestyle
event, posting a time of 49.49.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Sophomore Anne Kaduboski saw her string
of individual wins in dual meets halted at 46 when she finished
second in the 500 freestyle during Saturday’s meet at Saint
Rose.
