Northeast-10 Men’ s Swimming Athlete of the Week

Ricky Chidsey, Le Moyne (Sr., Liverpool, N.Y.) - Recorded seven top-four finishes at the UNYSCSA Championships. Recorded wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.36) and set an association record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.54). Placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.03) and the 400-yard medley relay (3:25.16), finished third 200-yard medley relay (1:33.26) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:07.67) and was a member of the fourth-place 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:24.79).

Jon Andrews, Bentley (So., Southbury, Conn.) - At the NEISDA Championships, finished first in the one-meter diving (407.65) and was fifth off the three-meter board (358.55).

Matt Wessels, Bentley (Fr., Epsom, N.H.) - Was a two-time gold medalist at the NEISDA Championships, with winning times of 2:00.13 in the 200 individual medley and 4:17.66 in the 400 IM. Also placed fifth in the 200 butterfly (2:05.08).

Weekly Honor Roll:

Willie Connolly, Bentley (Jr., Washington, Conn.) - During the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships, finished first in the 50 yard backstroke (24.54) and 100 back (53.19), and was second in the 200 back (1:55.56). Set a school record in the 50 back and broke the existing standard in the 200 back twice. Also helped Bentley to a second in the 200 medley relay, with Falcons twice breaking the school record in that event.

Sam Laden, Bentley (Jr., Cheshire, Conn.) - During the NEISDA Championships, earned the gold medal in the 200 breaststroke and finished second in the 100 breast and 100 individual medley. Also, earned three silver medals in relay events. Set school records in the 100 breast (58.33) and 200 breast (2:07.79), and was part of three relays that broke the existing Bentley standard (200 medley twice, 400 free).

Egen Ouellette, Bentley (So., West Hartford, Conn.) - Rewrote the Bentley freestyle record book during the NEISDA Championships, setting new standards in the 100 (47.94 as part of the 400 free relay), 200 (1:45.06 as part of the 800 free relay), 500 (4:48.03), 1000 (10:01.01) and 1650 (16:48.22). Also helped Bentley break the school record in the 200 medley relay twice, as well as the 400 free relay. Finished second in the 1000, third in the 1650 and fourth in the 500 in addition to four second-place finishes in relays.

Dan Healy, Saint Michael's (Fr., South Burlington, Vt.) - Recorded seven top-six finishes - and helped set four program records - at the NEISDA Championships. Set an individual program record by finishing third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.42). Helped set program records by finishing third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:43.72), fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.66), and sixth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.18). Also finished fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, and sixth in the 50-yard backstroke and 100-yard backstroke.

Tim McGrath, Saint Michael's (Fr., Hyannis, Mass.) - Recorded seven top-six finishes - and helped set five program records - at the NEISDA Championships. Set individual program records by finishing second in the 50-yard butterfly (24.28), and third in the 100-yard individual medley (55.34). Helped set program records by finishing third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:43.72), fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.66), and sixth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:42.18). Also finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (54.20), and fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Aidan Warhall, Saint Michael's (So., New Haven, Conn.) - Recorded five top-six finishes - and helped set a program record - at the NEISDA Championships. Helped set a program record by finishing third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:43.72). Also finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.72), fifth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:28.20) and the 800-yard freestyle relay, and sixth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.72).

Weekly Notes:


BENTLEY: During the NEISDA Championships, Bentley broke school records 13 times in 11 different events, including nine individual. Sophomore Egen Ouellette led the attack on the record book, setting new standards in every freestyle event except the 50. The Falcons collected six golds and eight silvers en route to a second-place finish in the 13-team meet.

SAINT MICHAEL’S:
The Saint Michael's men set eight program records over the weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. Freshman Tim McGrath set individual records by placing second in the 50-yard butterfly (24.28) and third in the 100-yard individual medley (55.34). Classmate Dan Healy also set a record by finishing third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.42). The duo helped the Purple Knights set three relay records as well, as Saint Michael's placed third in the 400-yard medley relay (3:43.72), fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:29.66), and sixth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:41.23). Also setting program records were sophomore Aidan Warhall in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.23 preliminary time), and freshman Allen Hubbard (Newtown, Conn.) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.18 preliminary time). Saint Michael's finished the meet fifth out of 13 schools.
