Northeast-10 Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Keith Gill, Stonehill (Sr., Brockton, Mass.) - Registered the
nation's fastest time for Division II Indoor competition with a
4.03.43 mile run. For the second straight week, set a school
record.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Symone Wong, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Laurelton, N.Y.) - Reached
an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 55 meter dash with a
time of 7.19 seconds at the Boston University Valentine's
Invitational. Was also a member of the 4x400 meter relay team that
reached an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:54.64.
Northeast-10 Men’s Track Freshman of the Week
Nana Ocra, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Manchester, Conn.) -
Finished fourth in the 55 meter dash at the Boston University
Valentine's Invitational with a time of 6.42 seconds.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Freshman of the Week
Patricia Brice, UMass Lowell (Fr., Chelmsford, Mass.) - Ran the
400 meters on the distance medley relay team which placed fifth
overall (second among Division II-III teams), provisionally
qualified for the NCAAs and broke a school record at the St.
Valentine's Day Invitational. Ran the 400 in 57.8 seconds as UML
posted a time of 11:54.72, the fourth fastest time in the country.
Also ran a 58.0-second leg on the 4X400 meter realy team which
placed seventh overall (second among II-III teams) in 3:54.43, and
provisionally qualified for the NCAAs.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Robert Keizer, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Great Neck, N.Y.) - Took
fifth in the triple jump at the Boston University Valentine's
Invitational with a jump of 15.06 meters (49’ 4”).
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Gillian Mundry, UMass Lowell (Sr., Methuen, Mass.) - Placed fourth
overall and tops among Division II-III athletes in the long jump at
the Boston University St. Valentine's Day Invitational. Leaped a
distance of 17' 8.25''
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Freshman of the Week
Cory Murray, UMass Lowell (Fr., Methuen, Mass.) - Placed ninth
overall and second among Division II-III throwers in the shot put
at the Boston University St. Valentine's Day Invitational. Threw
for a distance of 51 feet even.
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Freshman of the Week

Weekly Honor Roll:
Maurice Calenda, American International (Fr., Bloomfield, Conn.) -
Won both the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.96 seconds and the
long jump leaping 6.83 meters at the Smith College Tartan
Invite.
Molly O'Connell, Assumption (Jr., Tulsa, Okla.) - Won the shot put
with a distance of 11.71 meters (38 feet, 5 inches) at the Smith
College Tartan Invitational.
Dan Darcy, Bentley (So., Sharon, Mass.) - Was first amongst
Northeast-10 runners in the 800 meters at the BU Valentine's
Invitational, posting a time of 1:54.12. Finished 20th of 189
overall, and 12th amongst collegians. Also helped Bentley set a
season-best time of 3:28.05 in the 4x400 (39th of 53 overall).
Melissa Nash, Bentley (Jr., Marshfield, Mass.) - Set an indoor
personal best of 10:23.46 while finishing 27th of 86 in the 3,000
meters at the BU Valentine's Invitational.
Barbara Powell, Bentley (So., Granby, Mass.) - At the BU
Valentine's Invitational, set an indoor personal best and was the
top finishing Northeast-10 runner in the 800 meters, with a time of
2:21.43. Overall, was 47th of 141. Also helped Bentley set a school
record in the distance medley relay, 12:33.29 (17th of 29).
Stephan Ramirez, Bentley (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) - Provisionally
qualified for the NCAA Championships in the mile with a time of
4:12.83 at the BU Valentine's Invitational. Was 18th of 174 overall
and third amongst Northeast-10 runners.
Stephanie Montagano, Bryant (Jr., Wakefield, Mass.) - Placed 45th
in the women's 200 meters in 26.32 and 30th in the 400 meters in
58.87 seconds at the Boston University Valentine Meet Saturday.
Jacqui Barrett, UMass Lowell (So., Woburn, Mass.) - Placed seventh
overall and first among Division II-III athletes in the shot put at
the Boston University St. Valentine's Day Invitational. Threw for a
season-best distance of 42' 7.5''.
Sam Bastien, UMass Lowell (Fr., Canton, Mass.) - Ran the 400
meters in 50.6 seconds on the distance medley relay team which
placed second overall (first among Division II-III teams), broke a
school record and posted the fastest time in the country, 9:54.15.
Automatically qualified for the NCAA Championship.
Haley Catarius, UMass Lowell (So., Marshfield, Mass.) - Ran the
800 meters on the distance medley relay team which placed fifth
overall (second among Division II-III teams), provisionally
qualified for the NCAAs and broke a school record at the Boston
University St. Valentine's Day Invitational. Ran the 800 meters in
2:13.40 while UML posted a time of 11:54.72, the fourth fastest
time in the country, besting the previous school record of
11:56.31. Also ran a 57.6-second leg on UML's 4X400 meter relay
team which placed seventh overall (second among II-III teams) in
3:54.43, and provisionally qualified for the NCAAs.
Stephen DeWitt, UMass Lowell (Gr., Ellsworth, Maine) - Ran the
mile in 4:07.1 on the distance medley relay team at the Boston
University St. Valentine's Day Invitational which placed second
overall (tops among II-III teams), broke a school record and posted
the fastest time in the country, 9:54.15. Automatically qualified
for the NCAA Championship for the second time this season.
Mike Malinowski, UMass Lowell (So., Peabody, Mass.) - Ran the 800
meters in 1:56.40 on the distance medley relay team at the Boston
University St. Valentine's Day Invitational which placed second
overall (tops among II-III teams), broke a school record and posted
the fastest time in the country, 9:54.15. Automatically qualified
for the NCAA Championship. Also placed 22nd overall and fourth
among II-III runners in the open 1,000 meters in 2:31.62.
Ruben Sanca, UMass Lowell (Jr., Boston, Mass.) - Ran the 1,200
meters in 2:59.70 on UMass Lowell's distance medley relay team
which placed second overall (first among Division II and III
teams), broke the school record and posted the fastest time in the
country, 9:54.15. Automatically qualified for the NCAA
Championship.
John Critelli, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Southbury, Conn.) -
Finished the 3000 meter run at the Boston University Valentine's
Invitational in 8:30.05, placing 41st out of 180 runners.
Dickie Gerry, Stonehill (Sr., Bow, N.H.) - Provisionally qualified
for the NCAA National Championships after finishing the 1 Mile Run
in 4:11.60. Finished in 31st place for the Stonehill squad.
David Metzger, Stonehill (Sr., Ellington, Conn.) - Returned to
form as well for the Skyhawks, finishing the 5000 Meter Run with a
time of 14:34.92. The time is good for a provisional qualifier for
the NCAA National Championships.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: During Saturday's BU Valentine's
Invitational, the quartet of Barbara Powell (Granby, Mass.),
Rebecca Ciccarelli (Natick, Mass.), Caroline Sheedy (Reading,
Mass.) and Samantha Robbins (Franklin, Mass.) combined to set a
school record in the distance medley with a time of 12:33.29. The
former standard had been set in the same meet a year ago. Also,
senior Stephan Ramirez (San Antonio, Texas) provisionally qualified
for the NCAAs in the mile.
