Northeast-10 Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Torrey Price, Stonehill (Jr., Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) - Took first
place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.95 and second in the
200 meters with a time of 22.36 at the Southern Connecticut State
Owl Invitational.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Stephanie Montagano, Bryant (Jr., Wakefield, Mass.) - Took first in
the 200 meters in a time of 26.70 seconds at the Rhode Island
College Invitational and also added a first place finish in the 100
meter dash in 13.10 seconds.
Northeast-10 Men’s Track Co-Freshmen of the Week
Thomas O'Connor, Bryant (Fr., Westwood, Mass.) - Took a pair of
first place finishes at the Rhode Island College Invitational
Saturday, winning the 100 meters in 11.27 seconds and first in the
200 meters in 22.29 seconds.
Johan Rafael, UMass Lowell ( Fr. , Lawrence, MA ) - Won the 100
meter dash at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational with a time
of 11.08 seconds. Also placed second in the 200 meters with a time
of 22.52.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Freshman of the Week
Sherri Gamberale, Southern Connecticut (Fr., East Hampton, Conn.) -
Was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that ran to a first
place time of 49.63 seconds at the 2008 SCSU Owl Invitational. Also
finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.82.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Athlete and Freshman of the
Week
Maurice Calenda, American International (Fr., Bloomfield, Conn.) -
Led the team to a third-place finish at Westfield State's Jerry
Gravel Classic after winning the long jump and the triple jump with
respective jumps of 6.82 meters and 13.80 meters. Also won the 200
meter dash with a time of 23.05 seconds and was a member of the
third place 400-meter relay team that clocked in at 44.8
seconds.
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Sasha Saylor, Southern Connecticut (So., Hartford, Conn.) - Won the
long jump with a leap of 17’6” at the 2008 SCSU Owl
Invitational. Also placed third in the triple jump with a distance
of 35'0.25”.
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Freshman of the Week
Sharmaine Gregor, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Niantic, Conn.) - Won
the discus throw with a distance of 130’1” at the 2008
SCSU Owl Invitational. Also took fourth in the hammer throw with a
throw of 134’6”.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Lauren King, Assumption (Sr., Stoughton, Mass.) - Won the 100-meter
race (13.67) and the 200-meter race (28.53) at the Worcester City
Championships to help Assumption win the event.
James Morgan, Assumption (Fr., Stoneham, Mass.) - Won the 400-meter
hurdles at the Worcester City Championships with a time of
1:00.58.
Melissa Nash, Bentley (Jr., Marshfield, Mass.) - At the Raleigh
Relays, posted times of 4:56.47 in the 1500 and 18:50.67 in the
5,000 meters. Was 21st of 68 in Section II of the 1500, and third
amongst Division II runners. Placed 26th of 31 in Section II of the
5,000.
Stephan Ramirez, Bentley (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) - Was the top
Division II finisher in the 1500 meters (Section I) at the Raleigh
Relays. Was 20th of 25 overall with a time of 3:58.21.
Jacqui Barrett, UMass Lowell (So., Woburn, Mass.) - Won the shot
put at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational with a distance of
44' 0.5''. Also placed second in the discus with a throw of 98'
4.0''.
Sharikka Finley-Moise, UMass Lowell (So., Lexington, Mass.) - Won
the 100 meter dash at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational with
a time of 13.18 seconds, improving on the preliminary heat time of
13.34 seconds.
Rocky LeFort, UMass Lowell (Sr., Nashua, N.H.) - Won the shot put
at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational with a throw of 51'
0.25''.
Terry Young, UMass Lowell (Sr., Mansfield, Mass.) - Won the long
jump at the Trinity College Bantam Invitational with a distance of
21' 3.25''.
Kevin Jackson, Saint Rose (Jr., Schenectady, N.Y.) – Ran a
school record in the 110-meter hurdles by completing the race in a
fifth place time of 15.93 at the Dick Shea Invitational on Saturday
at West Point.
Robert Golabek, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Hamburg, N.Y.) - Won the
shot put with a heave of 53’8.75” at the 2008 SCSU Owl
Invitational. Also claimed sixth place in both the discus throw and
the hammer throw.
Sasha Mathelier, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Freeport, N.Y.) - Broke
school record in the pole vault with a vault of 12’0”
en route to claiming first place in the event at the 2008 SCSU Owl
Invitational.
McNeil Johnson, Southern Connecticut (Jr., East Hartford, Conn.) -
Won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.31 seconds at the 2008
SCSU Owl Invitational.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Katherine Reynolds, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Hamden, Conn.) -
Reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the hammer throw
with a first place heave of 164’4” at the 2008 SCSU Owl
Invitational.
Letecia Taylor, Southern Connecticut (So., Plainfield, N.J.) - Won
the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.06 at the 2008 SCSU Owl
Invitational.
Sutton Underwood, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Norwalk, Conn.) - Won
the pole vault with a vault of 16’0.75" at the 2008 SCSU Owl
Invitational.
Chris Watson, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Manchester, Conn.) - Won
the triple jump title with a distance of 45’1.75” at
the 2008 SCSU Owl Invitational.
