Northeast-10 Men’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the
Week
Nana Ocran, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Manchester, Conn.) - Was
named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships. Won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.90 seconds.
Won the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.94 seconds. Was also a
member of the 4x100 meter relay team that set a meet record with a
time of 41.14 seconds en route to winning the event.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Letecia Taylor, Southern Connecticut (So., Plainfield, N.J.) - Was
named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships. Won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.59
seconds and the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.81. Both
times marked NCAA provisional qualifying times.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Freshman of the Week
Lyra Clark, UMass-Lowell (Fr., Nashua, N.H.) - Captured the 3,000
meters and was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman Athlete
of the Year. Posted a time of 10:28.33, establishing a 30-plus
second advantage on the remainder of the field.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
John Brinley, Southern Connecticut (Jr., East Hartford, Conn.) -
Won the hammer throw at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships
with a meet-record and NCAA provisional qualifying throw of
180'1".
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Yvonne Perkins, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Danbury, Conn.) - Won
the hammer throw at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with
an NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 163'6". Also placed second
in the shot put and seventh in the javelin throw.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Freshman of the Week
Robert Golabek, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Hamburg, N.Y.) - Won the
shot put at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with an NCAA
provisional qualifying throw of 54'1.75". Also placed third in the
discus throw and fourth in the hammer throw at the event.
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Freshman of the Week
Courtni Walker, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Uniondale, N.Y.) - Won
the triple jump at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a
jump of 35'1". Also placed second in the long jump with a leap of
17'1.5".
Weekly Honor Roll:
Melissa Nash, Bentley (Jr., Marshfield, Mass.) - Captured third
Northeast-10 championship of her career, winning the 1500 meters in
4:47.50, with a winning margin of 3.36 seconds.
Rachel Martinich, Bryant (Jr., Fairfield, Conn.) - Won the women's
javelin throw in the NE-10 Championships, qualifying for the New
England Championships with a toss of 38.10 meters.
Nicole Radzik, Bryant (Sr., Sutton, Mass.) - Named Female Athlete
of the Year at Saturday's NE-10 Track & Field Championships.
Took a pair of victories in the meet, first in the 3000-meter
steeplechase with an NCAA-provisionally qualifying time of 11:20.91
and later winning the 5000-meter run, setting a new NE-10
Championship record and qualifying for the New England
Championships with a time of 18:03.44.
Jacqui Barrett, UMass-Lowell (So., Woburn, Mass.) - Captured the
shot put and improved her standing for the NCAA Championship.
Posted a distance of 46' 0.75'' to move from 11th to 10th on the
NCAA Division II list.
Haley Catarius, UMass-Lowell (So., Marshfield, Mass.) - Won the 400
meter dash at the Northeast-10 Championship. Posted a time of 57.93
seconds.
Andrew Grange, UMass-Lowell (Jr., Methuen, Mass.) - Captured the
400 meter dash for the second straight year and improved his
standing on the NCAA Championship Division II list at the
Northeast-10 Conference Championship. Posted a time of 47.52 to
improve to 15th in the country. Also ran a leg on UML's 4X100 meter
relay team which took second in 42.44 seconds.
Robert Liekweg, UMass-Lowell (So., Salem, N.H.) - Captured both the
110 meter and 400 meter hurdles at the Northeast-10 Conference
Championship. Won the 110 in 15.08 seconds and captured the 400 in
53.98 seconds. Also ran legs on UML's 4X100 meter relay team which
took second (42.44) and the 4X400 meter relay team which was also
the runner-up in 3:23.18.
Gillian Mundry, UMass-Lowell (Sr., Methuen, Mass.) - Won the long
jump at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship with a distance of
17' 9.75''.
Ruben Sanca, UMass-Lowell (Jr., Boston, Mass.) - Won the 5,000
meters at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship for the second
straight year with a time of 14:54.98.
Melissa Bredice, Saint Rose (So., Colonie, N.Y.) - Set an NE-10
Championship meet record with a winning time of 39:30.33 in the
10,000 meter run, shattering the previous standard by some two
minutes.
Christopher Croff, Southern Connecticut (So., Lisbon, Conn.) - Won
the 10,000 meters at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with
a time of 32:30.28.
Corey Mosley, Southern Connecticut (So., Bethany, Conn.) - Won the
800 meter run at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a
time of 1:54.40.
Kevin Taylor, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Bristol, Conn.) - Won the
long jump at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a leap
of 23'1.75".
Chris Watson, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Manchester, Conn.) - Won
the triple jump at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a
jump of 46'6.25".
Ryan Whitehead, Southern Connecticut (So., Darien, Conn.) - Won the
pole vault at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with a
vault of 15'6.25".
Symone Wong, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Laurelton, N.Y.) - Won the
100 meter dash with a time of 12.31 seconds and the 200 meter dash
with a time of 25.43 seconds at the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: At the Northeast-10 Championships, both
junior Meghan Munroe (Haverhill, Mass.) and freshman Corinne
Flieger (Hopkinton, Mass.) improved on school records that they had
set earlier this season. Munroe posted a time of 12:24.29 in the
3000 meter steeplechase and Flieger lowered the Bentley standard in
the 100 meter hurdles to 15.77 seconds.
SAINT ROSE: The Saint Rose men's track and field
team had its best performance ever at the Northeast-10 Conference
Championships with a fifth place standing. Junior Kevin Jackson
(Schenectady, N.Y.) broke his own school record with a second place
time of 15.23 in the 110m hurdles, while junior Marc Cooke
(Williston, VT) set a school mark with a distance of 12.52 meters
in the triple jump.
