Northeast-10 Men’s Track Co-Athletes of the Week

Daniel Haggerty, Southern Conn. (Sr., Albany, N.Y.) - Won the 3000 meter steeplechase at the New England Championships with a time of 9:19.04.

Alex Engel, Bryant (So., Spencer, Mass.) - Captured first place honors in the 400 meters at the New England Championships this past weekend at the University of New Hampshire. Placed first in the prelims in 48.50 and later took first in the finals in 47.70 seconds.

Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Symone Wong, Southern Conn. (Jr., Laurelton, N.Y.) - Won the 100 meter dash at the New England Championships with a time of 12.14 seconds. Was also a member of the New England Champion 4x100 meter relay team and the third place 4x400 meter relay team, both of which posted NCAA provisional qualifying times. The 4x100 meter relay team also set a school record with a time of 47.36 seconds.

Northeast-10 Men’s Track Freshman of the Week

Sam Bastien, UMass-Lowell (Fr., Canton, Mass.) - Earned All-New England Honors in two events as UMass Lowell placed sixth at the New England Championship. Placed sixth overall and third among Division II-III atheltes in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.16 seconds. Also ran a 10.34-second leg on the 4X100 meter relay team which placed fifth in 42.97 seconds.

Northeast-10 Women’s Track Freshman of the Week

Sherri Gamberale, Southern Connecticut (Fr., East Hampton, Conn.) - Was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that won at the New England Championships with a school record and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 47.36 seconds. Individually, finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.40 seconds.

Northeast-10 Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Sutton Underwood, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Norwalk, Conn.) - Cleared a height of 15'9" to win the pole vault at the New England Championships.

Northeast-10 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Yvonne Perkins, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Danbury, Conn.) - Posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the shot put and hammer throw at the New England Championships. Was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 163'9" and fifth in the shot put with a heave of 44'7".

Northeast-10 Men’s Field Freshman of the Week

Robert Golabek, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Hamburg, N.Y.) - Placed second in the shot put at the New England Championships with a heave of 55'5".

Weekly Honor Roll:

Melissa Nash, Bentley (Jr., Marshfield, Mass.) - Set a PR by nine seconds and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. II Championships in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:44.05 at the New Englands. Placed 14th of 32 overall and was the number two Division II runner across the finish line.

Stephanie Montagano, Bryant (Jr., Wakefield, Mass.) - Placed second in the finals of the women's 400 meters at the New England Championships with a time of 57.52. Was third in the prelims in a time of 57.62.

Thomas O'Connor, Bryant (Fr., Westwood, Mass.) - Placed seventh in the finals of the 200 meters at the New England Championships, finishing in a time of 22.26. The freshman advanced to the finals with a seventh-place time of 22.05 in the prelims.

Jacqui Barrett, UMass Lowell (So., Woburn, Mass.) - Earned All-New England honors at the New England Championship for the second time this season in the shot put. Threw for a distance of 44' 8.0'' and placed second among Division II and III throwers.

Haley Catarius, UMass-Lowell (So., Marshfield, Mass.) - Earned All-New England honors in two events as UMass Lowell placed eighth at the New England Championship. Placed fifth overall and tops among Division II-III atheltes in the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.80, virtually booking a place at the NCAA Championship with the 13th-fastest time in the country. Also ran a leg on the 4X800 meter relay team which placed fifth and set a school record with a time of 9:24.82.

Tristin Johnson, UMass-Lowell (Sr., Pittsfield, Mass.) - Earned All-New England honors in two events as UMass Lowell placed eighth at the New England Championship. Placed seventh in the 200 meter dash in 25.33 seconds and ran an 11.25-second leg on the 4X100 meter relay team which took third in 47.69 seconds.

Robert Liekweg, UMass-Lowell (So., Salem, N.H.) - Earned All-New England Honors in two events as UMass Lowell placed sixth at the New England Championship. Placed second overall and tops among Division II-III athletes in the 400 meter hurdles in 53.24 seconds. Also ran a 10.93-second leg on the 4X100 meter relay team which took fifth in 42.97 seconds.

Gillian Mundry, UMass-Lowell (Sr., Methuen, Mass.) - Earned All-New England honors for the sixth time in her career, placing third in the long jump in leading UMass Lowell to eighth at the New England Championship. Leaped to a distance of 17' 10.25''.

Shanika Pitts, UMass-Lowell (Fr., Easton, Mass.) - Earned All-New England honors in two events as UMass Lowell placed eighth at the New England Championship. Placed fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.52 seconds and ran a 12.10-second leg on the 4X100 meter relay team which took third in 47.69 seconds.

Rex Radloff, UMass-Lowell (Jr., Dedham, Mass.) - Placed second overall and earned All-New England status in the 5,000 meters at the New England Championship. Posted a time of 14:23.31 and finished behind Nicolai Naranjo of UMass Amherst (14:22.57) in under a second.

Terry Young, UMass-Lowell (Sr., Mansfield, Mass.) - Earned All-New England honors in two events as UMass Lowell placed sixth at the New England Championship. Placed fifth in the long jump with a distance of 22' 9.25'' and ran a 10.16-second leg on the 4X100 meter relay team which placed fifth in 42.97 seconds.

Letecia Taylor, Southern Connecticut (So., Plainfield, N.J.) - Won the 400 meter intermediate hurdles at the New England Championships with an NCAA provisional and school record time of 60.76 seconds.

Jenn Gardynski, Stonehill (Jr., Everett, Mass.) - Turned in a school record performance, posting a fourth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase. By running 11:14.47 earned All-New England status and is a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Championships.

Tyler Guilmette, Stonehill (Jr., Longmeadow, Mass.) - Shattered the old school record, posting a long jump of 23 feet even to finish third at the New England Championships and earn All-New England honors.

David Metzger, Stonehill (Sr., Ellington, Conn.) - Picked up All-New England accolades, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship, blazing to a second place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:21.94.

Torrey Price, Stonehill (Jr., Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) - Finished third in both the 100 and 200 meters, earning All-New England honors along the way. Also set new school marks in each event and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Weekly Notes:

BENTLEY: During the New Englands, senior Meaghan Munroe (Haverhill, Mass.) and freshman Corinne Flieger (Hopkinton, Mass.) continued to rewrite the Bentley record book. Munroe broke the school record in the steeplechase for the third time, lowering it more than 10 seconds to 12:14.06, and Flieger improved on the 100 meter hurdle standard four times. Her time of 15.49 seconds was an improvement of 0.28 seconds over the record she set just a week earlier at the NE-10 championships. Junior Melissa Nash (Marshfield, Mass.) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. II Championships in the 5,000.
