Northeast-10 Men’s Track Athlete of the
Week
Tyrone Sawyer, New Haven (Sr., Nassau, Bahamas) - Won the 60 meter
dash, provisionally qualifying for the national meet in a time of
6.85 at the Yale Giegengack Invitational. Also finished seventh in
the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.64.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Athlete of the
Week
Shannon Gagne, New Haven (So., Meriden, Conn.) - Finished second in
the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.01 at the Yale Giegengack
Invitational, setting a new school record in that event. Also came
in third in the 60 meter dash (6.83) after qualifying first in a
time of 6.82.
Northeast-10 Men’s Track Freshman of the
Week
Kevin Downing, New Haven (Fr., Meriden, Conn.) - Won the 200 meter
dash in a time of 21.86 at the Yale Giegengack Invitational.
Northeast-10 Women’s Track Freshman of the
Week
Dana Jamieson, UMass Lowell (Fr., Sudbury, Mass.) - Captured two
events and shattered a school record at the Tufts University
Stampede. Won the 600 meters in 1:36.63, eclipsing the previous
school record of 1:37.04 set in 1994. Also ran a 59-1-second leg on
the 4X400 meter relay team which placed first in 4:03.41.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Athlete of the
Week
Cory Murray, UMass Lowell (So., Methuen, Mass.) - Won the shot put
title - his second of the year - at the Tufts University Stampede
with a season-best throw of 51' 1.5''.
Northeast-10 Women’s Co-Field Athletes of the
Week
Jacqui Barrett, UMass Lowell (Jr., Woburn, Mass.) - Won her fourth
title of the season, capturing the shot put at the Tufts University
Stampede with a throw of 44' 1.5''.
Letecia Taylor, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Plainfield, N.J.) - Won
the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.80 seconds at the Giegengack
Invitational.
Northeast-10 Men’s Field Freshman of the
Week
David Bannerman, Southern Connecticut (Fr., South Windham, Conn.) -
Finished seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 13.62 meters at
the Giegengack Invitational.
Northeast-10 Women’s Field Freshman of the
Week
Alesha Chu Foo, New Haven (Fr., Bridgeport, Conn.) - Finished ninth
in the high jump at the Yale Giegengack Invitational with a jump of
1.55 meters (5'1”).
Weekly Honor Roll:
Geoffrey Mock, Assumption (Fr., Sicklerville, N.J.) - At the Smith
Invitational he finished second in the 55 meters(6.60) (Career
Best). Also had a third place finish in the 200-meters (23.30).
Bernard Scott, Assumption (Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla.) - At the
Smith Invitational finished first in the 55-meters (6.54).
Dan Darcy, Bentley (Jr., Sharon, Mass,) - Represented Bentley at
the prestigious Reebok Boston Indoor Games by posting a season-best
time of 1:54.32 in the 800 meters. Was fifth of six in the race,
trailing runners from Rend Lake, Providence, Cornell and Ohio
State.
Tim Guerin, UMass Lowell (Jr., Auburn, Mass.) - Placed second in
the mile at the Tufts University Stampede in 4:23.78. Also ran a
2:01.60-leg on the 4X800 meter relay team which took second in
7:56.84.
Justin Oliver, UMass Lowell (Jr., Lowell, Mass.) - Won the 600
meters at the Tufts University Stampede in 1:24.07.
Ashley Zielinski, UMass Lowell (Fr., Manchester, N.H.) - Won the 55
meter hurdles in 8.47 seconds and placed seventh in the 200 meter
dash in 27.29 at the Tufts University Stampede.
John Brinley, Southern Connecticut (Sr., East Hartford, Conn.) -
Won the weight throw with an IC4A qualifying mark of 18.24 meters
during the first day of the Giegengack Invitational.
Sasha Mathelier, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Freeport, N.Y.) - Won
the pole vault with a vault of 3.75 meters and grabbed a sixth
place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.38 seconds at
the Giegengack Invitational.
Danielle Moore, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Palmdale, Calif.) -
Finished in second place in the 800 meter dash with a time of
2:14.67 at the Giegengack Invitational.
Corey Mosley, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Bethany, Conn.) - Turned
in a second place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of
1:55.21 at the Giegengack Invitational.
Gary Pope, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) - Won the 400
meter dash with a time of 49.41 seconds at the Giegengack
Invitational.
Patrick Waszczak, Southern Connecticut (So., Colchester, Conn.) -
Placed second in the pole vault with a vault of 4.80 meters at the
Giegengack Invitational.
Joe D'Agostino, Stonehill (Jr., Canton, Mass.) - Finished second in
the high jump (6'2.25")at the Tufts Invitational.
Dan Newton, Stonehill (So., Reading, Mass.) - Set a new school
record in the shot put with a toss of 45 feet and 9.75 inches, also
finished third in the event at the Tufts Invitational.
Susan O’Connell, Stonehill (Fr., East Greenwich, R.I.) -
Placed second in the 800, finishing behind teammate Lindsey Pinkham
with a time of 2:22.25. Also member of 4x400 relay which took third
and finished just .01 of matching the school, at the Tufts
Invitational.
Kathryn O’Leary, Stonehill (Jr., North Greenbush, N.Y.) -
Took home the honors in the 400 meters with a time 1:01.59 at the
Tufts Invitational.
Lindsey Pinkham, Stonehill (So., Skowhegan, Maine) - Placed first
in the 800 meters with a time of 2:21.48. Was also the third leg of
the 4x400 which finished just .01 from matching the school record
with a time of 4:07.71 at the Tufts Invitational.
Weekly Notes:
NEW HAVEN: New Haven’s women’s
distance medley relay team (Ashley Hardy, Alesha Chu Foo, Danielle
Howell and Lauren DiMitruck) broke the school record in a time of
13:10.87.
