Northeast-10 Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Roman Henry, Southern Connecticut (So., Brooklyn, NY) - Part of two scoring relays for the Owls at the NCAA championships. A member of the 4 x 400-meter relay team with Gary Pope, Jeremy Alvarez and Donald Stevens, which placed fourth in 3:14.39. Teamed with Collin Walsh, Jim King and Ramon Laboy to place seventh in the distance medley relay with a time of 9:59.94.

Northeast-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Koreena Glanville, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Brooklyn, NY) - Placed seventh at 400 meters with a time of 57.11 seconds as Coach Jim Barber's Owls scored 12 points to place 16th as the top finisher from the NE-10.

Northeast-10 Men's Track Freshman of the Week

Gary Pope, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Brooklyn, NY) - Placed 11th in the 400-meter dash (49.00) and was part of the Owls' 4 x 400-meter relay team with Jeremy Alvarez, Roman Henry and Donald Stevens, which placed fourth in 3:14.39.

Northeast-10 Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Ivan Schmidt, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Bridgeport, CT) - Schmidt placed third in the high jump at seven feet, 1.5 inches with the two competitors ahead of him both making seven feet, inches to break the NCAA Division II record. Schmidt was also honored by the USTFCCA as the Northeast Region's Male Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Northeast-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Merlene "Stacey" Egbert, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Danbury, CT) - Egbert was named the Northeast Region Female Indoor Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA). She finished second in the triple jump (39-10) and seventh in the long jump (18-9) at the NCAA Division II championships as Coach Jim Barber's Owls scored 12 points to place 16th

as the top finisher from the NE-10.

MEN

Jeremy Alvarez, Southern Connecticut (So., Bronx, NY) - Part of the Owls' 4 x 400-meter relay team with Gary Pope, Roman Henry and Donald Stevens, which placed fourth in 3:14.39 at the NCAA championships.

Clint Cooper, UMass Lowell (Jr., Raynham, MA ) - Earned All-American honors in two events at the NCAA Championships. Ran a 49.1-second split to lead the distance medley relay team to fifth place with a time of 9:57.58 on Saturday. Helped the 4X400 meter relay team to sixth place (3:14.41) by running a 47.6-second split.

Hafiz Greigre, Bryant (So., Attleboro, MA) - Greigre concluded his stellar indoor season by competing at last weekend's NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships in Boston. Greigre, the holder of five Bryant Indoor records set this season, placed 16th in the men's 200 meters in a time of 22.16.

Robert Keizer, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Great Neck, NY) - Keizer was sixth in the long jump at 48 feet, 1.25 inches in the NCAA

Division II championships.

David Metzger, Stonehill (So., Ellington, CT) Placed 11th in the 5000 meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship this past weekend with a time of 15:06.65.

Donald Stevens, Southern Connecticut (So., White Plains, NY) - Part of the Owls' 4 x 400-meter relay team with Gary Pope, Roman Henry and Jeremy Alvarez, which placed fourth in 3:14.39 at the NCAA championships.

WOMEN

Esia Johnson, UMass Lowell (Sr., Lawrence, MA) - Named All-American and placed third at the NCAA Championship in the long jump with a career-best leap of 19' 5.5'', the second-best leap in UMass Lowell history.

Nicole Plante, UMass Lowell (Jr., North Adams, MA) - Placed ninth overall in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championship in a school record 16:52.00. Bested her own previous school record of 16:52.26, set Jan. 28 at the BU Terrier Invitational.

Erin Smith, Stonehill (Sr., Brockton, MA) Finished 16th in the 5000 meter run at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship this past weekend with a time of 17:48.30.

Southern Connecticut: MEN: Coach Jack Maloney was named the Northeast Regional Men's Indoor Coach of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Coaches Association (USTFCCA). Maloney's Owls placed 13th in the NCAA Division II indoor championships, scoring 16 points at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston as the top finisher from the Northeast-10 Conference. Coach Jim Barber's Owls scored 12 points to place 16th as the top finisher from the NE-10 UMass Lowell: UMass Lowell crowned eight All-Americans at the NCAA Championship last weekend, including senior Esia Johnson (Lawrence, MA), who placed third in the long jump (19' 5.5'') and Clint Cooper (Raynham, MA), who earned the honor in both the distance medley relay (9:57.58) with a 49.1-second split, and the 4X400 meter relay (3:14.41) with a 47.9-second split. Other members of the DMR team included sophomore Joey DeWitt (Ellsworth, ME), who ran the 1,200 meters in 3:04; freshman Patrick Molloy (Methuen, MA), who ran the 800 meters in 1:54; and senior Patrick Morasse (Lowell, MA), who ran the mile in 4:07. Along with Cooper, UML's 4X400 team was made up of senior Diego Pinheiro (Ashland, MA), senior John Drinkwater (Tewksbury, MA) and freshman Andrew Grange (Methuen, MA)...UML opens the outdoor season Saturday at the Miami Hurricane Invitational Stonehill: Stonehill College and the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center served as co-hosts of this past weekend's 2006 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend. The Skyhawks were also represented by senior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) and sophomore David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.), who competed in their respective 5,000 meter events Bryant: Sophomore Hafiz Greigre (Attleboro, MA) concluded his stellar indoor season by competing at last weekend's NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championships in Boston.
