University of New Haven Wins NE-10 Regular Season Title; Earns Top Seed in Upcoming Volleyball Championship

South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven has earned
the top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Volleyball Championship
which begins on Friday, November 14 at host site Pace University in
Pleasantville, N.Y.
New Haven was perfect, finishing 14-0 in their inaugural season
with the Northeast-10 Conference and are 25-3 overall. Merrimack
College (18-8, 13-1 NE-10) claimed the second seed and Bentley
University (20-10, 12-2 NE-10) will be the third. The Falcons are
making their 28th straight appearance in the volleyball
championship. They are the only NE-10 school to make the tournament
each season since the championship debut in 1981.
Stonehill College (20-10, 8-6 NE-10) is fourth in the championship
field due to their regular season victories over American
International (12-12, 8-6 NE-10) and Franklin Pierce University
(17-17, 8-6 NE-10). American International and Franklin Pierce are
the fifth and sixth seeds respectively.
The University of Massachusetts Lowell (15-16, 7-7 NE-10) and Le
Moyne College (14-12, 7-7 NE-10) round out the remaining seeds at
seventh and eighth as determined by the conference tiebreak
procedures.
Quarterfinal matches begin on Friday, November 14 at Pace
University. The quarterfinal action includes #1 New Haven versus #8
Le Moyne and #4 Stonehill versus #5 American International at 5
p.m., followed by #2 Merrimack versus #7 UMass Lowell and #3
Bentley versus #6 Franklin Pierce at 7:30 p.m.
The semifinal round will take place on Saturday, November 15 with
the winner of Ne w Haven/Le Moyne taking on the winner of
Stonehill/American International and the winner of Merrimack/UMass
Lowell matching up against the winner of Bentley/Franklin Pierce.
The semi-final match ups will take place at 2 p.m.
The championship game is slated for 7 p.m. later that day.
With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest
NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23
championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500
student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II
conference.
