The University of New Haven earned the top seed in the upcoming NCAA Division II Volleyball East Regional and will serve as the tournament host. Bentley University and Merrimack College also received post-season bids.

The NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Committee selected the 64 teams that will be participating in the 2008 NCAA Division Volleyball Championship.  Eight teams were selected from each of the eight regions, including Atlantic, Centrak, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West.  The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals which are scheduled for December 4-6. 

The East Regional quarterfinals will take place on Thursday, November 20 at New Haven with the first match starting at noon and will feature #3 Bentley and #6 Bridgeport.  The Falcons are making their tenth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament and fifth straight.  Bentley is currently 21-11 and advanced to the Northeast-10 Championship semifinals. The next quarterfinal will take place at 2:30 p.m. and will be between the East Coast Conference Champion #2 Dowling and #7 Adelphi.

At 5 p.m. #4 Georgian Court, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion, will face #5 Merrimack College.  The Warriors are making their second-straight NCAA appearance after advaning all the way to the Northeast-10 Championship Final.  The final quarterfinal match up is set for 7:30 p.m. with top seed and host New Haven facing #8 Queens.  The Chargers enter the NCAA Tournament riding the momentum of a 24 game winning streak and their recent Northeast-10 Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

The semifinals are slated for Friday, November 21 with the winner of Bentley/Bridgeport facing the winner of Adelphi/Dowling at 5 p.m. followed by the winner of New Haven/Queens and Merrimack/Georgian Court at 7:30 p.m.

The East Regional Final is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 22.  The East Region winner will advance to the finals on December 4-6.
