Third-seeded Adelphi University won the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Championship on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-20, 25-16) over The College of Saint Rose at Merkert Gym on the campus of Stonehill College.

Third-seeded Adelphi University knocked off second-seeded and host Stonehill College in the first semifinal game Friday night at Stonehill's Merkert Gymnasium. The Panthers will take on The College of Saint Rose Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Northeast-10 Championship final match.

New Haven’s Candelaria Named Northeast-10 Player of the Year
The University of New Haven’s Keidy Candelaria was named the 2011 Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Year by the conference’s head coaches it was announced today. Candelaria is the third consecutive Chargers’ player to win the award as Rhe-Ann Niles won the award in 2008, and Sara Malmlov claimed the honor in 2009 and 2010.

NE-10 Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals Recap: UMass Lowell Shocks Top-Seeded New Haven
The top-seeded University of New Haven Chargers, who finished the regular season undefeated in conference play, fell to eighth-seeded UMass Lowell in the Northeast-10 Volleyball quarterfinals, 3-1. The higher seeds won the other three matches in the opening night of championship play.

For the fourth consecutive year, The University of New Haven finished undefeated in Northeast-10 Conference play (15-0) to earn the top seed in the upcoming conference championship, which will begin Tuesday, November 8th.
