Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Alexis Castro, American International (Sr., F, Chula Vista,
Calif.) - Averaged a double-double with 24 points and 10.5 rebounds
per game to lead the team to a pair of wins at the 2007
Sheraton/Hall of Fame Classic. Recorded 26 points, eight rebounds
and two blocked shots in a 59-49 win over Bloomfield and registered
22 points, 13 boards and two steals in a 65-52 victory over
Wilmington.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kim Brennan, Bentley (Fr., G, Locust Valley, N.Y.) - Helped
Bentley to a 3-0 record by averaging 10.7 points, 4.7 assists,
three rebounds and 1.3 steals. Had 15 rebounds and five assists at
Southern New Hampshire, 11 points against Nova Southeastern and
five assists at Barry.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Charde Floyd, Assumption (Sr., F, Worcester, Mass.) - Averaged 11
points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals while shooting
52.9 percent (9-17 FG) from the floor in a 2-0 weekend at the Surf
n’ Slam in San Diego. Recorded a double-double (14 points, 12
rebounds) along with four assists and four steals in a win over New
Haven. Grabbed 10 rebounds in addition to eight points (4-8 FT),
six assists, two blocks, and four steals in a victory over Slippery
Rock.
Leslie Lupien, Assumption (So., F, Pomfret Center, Conn.) -
Averaged 19.5 points and 2.5 steals while shooting 68.2 percent
(15-22 FG, 8-8 FT) from the floor in a 2-0 weekend at the Surf
n’ Slam in San Diego. Scored 23 points (13 in the first half)
on 8-of-12 shooting (7-7 FT) along with three assists and three
steals in a win over New Haven. Had 16 points (7-10 FG) and three
steals in a victory over Slippery Rock.
Bethany Plasski, Assumption (Jr., G, Fall River, Mass.) - Averaged
18.5 points, 4.5 assists, and six steals while shooting 50 -
percent (14-28 FG, 5-8 3FG, 4-4 FT) from the floor in a 2-0 weekend
at the Surf n’ Slam in San Diego. Scored 25 points (11-19 FG,
3-5 3FG) with 10 steals and five assists in a win over New Haven.
Had 12 points (2-3 3FG, 4-4 FT) and four assists in a victory over
Slippery Rock.
Erica Kirwan, Bentley (Sr., F, North Kingstown, R.I.) - Led the
team to three wins by averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds, both
team-best figures. Shot 48 percent from the field and made 10 of 16
free throws. Had double-doubles against both Southern New Hampshire
(10 pts, 10 rebs) and Nova Southeastern (13 points, 11 rebounds),
and 11 points in a win at Barry.
Kristy McLean, Bentley (Jr., G, Staten Island, N.Y.) - In three
wins, averaged 10.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, three steals and two
assists with a .429 shooting mark from three-point land. In the
Barry Holiday Classic, had 15 points, 11 rebounds and five steals
against Nova Southeastern, and 14 points in the win over Barry.
Lynne-Ann Kokoski, Bryant (Sr., G, Hatfield, Mass.) - Averaged 10
points and 6.3 rebounds per game along with 26 assists in a 4-0
stretch. Recorded a triple-double (13 points, 11 assists, 10
rebounds) in the 67-57 win over Bridgeport. Scored double-digit
points in 3-of-4 contests, Went 15-for-30 from the field and
9-of-12 from the line.
Kelsey O'Keefe, Bryant (So , F, Warren, Mass.) - Averaged 17.3
points and 8.8 rebounds per game during a 4-0 stretch. Scored 23
points in a 69-45 win over New York Tech and had six assists and 15
rebounds in a 74-55 win over Calwell. Registered double-doubles
against Bridgeport and Caldwell.
Johannah Leedham, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Ellesmere Port,
England) - Averaged 23 points, five rebounds, 3.5 assists and two
steals with a pair of wins at the Pace Holiday Classic, while
converting 85.7-percent (18-of-21) from the free-throw line.
Totaled 23 points, six rebounds and five assists in a non-league
win at Pace. Collected 23 points, four rebounds, three steals and
two assists in a win at Dominican.
Amanda Shannon, Merrimack (So., G, North Andover, Mass.) -
Averaged 17 points in two victories at the Valley Cup Classic. Hit
the game-winning lay-up in the victory over Glenville State and the
game-winning three-pointer in the win over Goldey-Beacom.
Stephanie Klingele, Pace (Sr., G, Staten Island, N.Y.) - Averaged
16 points and 6.7 rebounds in three games. Totaled 15 points and
five rebounds against Southern Connecticut. Scored 20 points and
grabbed six rebounds against Dominican. Tallied 13 points and nine
caroms along with three assists and two steals against Franklin
Pierce.
Erin Higgins, Saint Anselm (So., G, Mansfield, Mass.) - Averaged
13.3 points per game in a 2-2 week, while shooting a combined 53.8
percent from three-point range (14-for-26) and posting five assists
and three steals. Scored 20 points at Bridgeport and followed that
up with a 21-point night in the Bryant Holiday Tournament, shooting
5-for-6 from three-point land.
Dana Brown, Saint Rose (Jr., G, Elmont, N.Y.) - Averaged 18.8
points, 2.5 rebounds and two assists to lead the team to a 2-2
record throughout the past four games. Shot 54.3 percent
(25-for-46) from the floor, knocked down 6-of-12 attempts from
beyond the arc and connected on 19-of-20 free throws during that
stretch. In a 65-57 loss to Saint Michael's, tossed in 21 points
and versus Wilmington scored the game-winning layup as time expired
(76-75). Finished with 19 points in the contest to go with three
boards and three assists. Scored 21 points on 8-of-9 shooting from
the floor in a 70-69 setback against Bloomfield.
Kate Lynch, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Rumford, R.I.) -
Averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds over two games. Scored 16
points and had eight rebounds in a win at Pace. Scored 12 points
and hauled in three rebounds against Delta State.
Julia Houghtaling, Southern New Hampshire (So., F, Franconia,
N.H.) - Averaged 10.7 points and seven rebounds per game while
shooting 52.6% from the floor in a 2-1 stretch. Totaled 13 points
and six rebounds in a win over New Haven at the San Diego Surf N
Slam. Named to the Surf N Slam All-Tournament Team.
Erika Stupinski, Stonehill (Sr., G, Topsham, Maine) - Averaged 12
assists in two games in at Cruzin' Classic, as the Skyhawks went
1-1 in Miami Shores. Dished out 12 assists and grabbed four
rebounds versus Barry. Against Gannon, recorded a double-double
with 11 points and 12 assists.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley's next game, Jan. 8 at Franklin
Pierce, will be the 700th as the Falcons' head coach for Barbara
Stevens. The Falcons have held 10 straight opponents to less than
40 percent shooting.
BRYANT: Went 4-0 over holiday break to increase the
Bulldogs' winning steak to a school-record eight-straight
victories. Bryant also stepped onto the national stage with its
first appearance in the polls as Others Receiving Votes... Went 2-0
in Bryant Holiday Classic, Dec. 28 and 29... Kokoski's
triple-double on Dec. 19 was the first of her career.
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Southern New Hampshire
was named co-champion at last weekend's San Diego Surf N Slam.
Julia Houghtaling and Alyssa Whitney (Somerville, Mass.) were each
named to the All-Tournament Team.
