Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Kelsey Simonds, Stonehill (Jr., F, Middleboro, Mass.) - Averaged
19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and two assists in a 2-0 week, while
shooting 52 percent from the field and made 15-of-17 from the line.
In a win over Southern Connecticut, recorded 19 points, nine
rebounds and three assists. Then in a win at Pace, recorded a
double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds and two steals.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Tori Ahrens, Franklin Pierce (Fr., C, East Greenwich, R.I.) -
Averaged 11 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in a 1-1 week, while
shooting 53.3-percent (8-for-15) from the field. Notched a
double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds to go with three
steals at Saint Rose. Posted eight points and nine rebounds in a
win at #22 Assumption.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Alexis Castro, American International (Sr., F, Chula Vista, Calif.)
- Averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored 25
points in a win over UMass Lowell and netted 16 points with 15
boards against Saint Michael’s.
Charde Floyd, Assumption (Sr., F, Worcester, Mass.) - Averaged 13.5
points and eight rebounds while shooting 55.6 percent (10-18 FG)
from the floor last week. Had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three
assists versus Franklin Pierce. Scored 15 points and had six
rebounds at Saint Anselm.
Kristy McLean, Bentley (Jr., G, Staten Island, N.Y.) - In a 1-1
week, averaged 14.5 points, eight rebounds, 2.5 assists, two blocks
and 1.5 steals. Shot 56 percent overall and 50 percent (6-12) from
three. Had 12 points, eight rebounds three assists and three steals
in a 63-42 win over Pace. Scored 17 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3FG) and
also had eight rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block in
a 62-57 loss to unbeaten Holy Family.
Kelsey O’Keefe, Bryant (So., F, Warren, Mass.) –
Recorded a double-double in the 60-51 win over UMass Lowell. Scored
15 points and collected 12 rebounds. Also notched a block and two
steals.
Jennifer Leedham, Franklin Pierce (Jr., G, Ellesmere Port, England)
- Averaged 13 points, 3.5 assists, three rebounds and a steal in a
1-1 week. Totaled 14 points, five rebounds and six assists in win
at #22 Assumption. Collected 12 points and two steals at Saint
Rose.
Johannah Leedham, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Ellesmere Port, England)
- Averaged 15 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.5 steals and a
blocked shot in a 1-1 week, while shooting 93.3-percent (14-of-15)
from the free-throw line. Totaled 16 points, seven rebounds, three
assists, a block and a steal in win at #22 Assumption. Posted 14
points, eight rebounds, eight assists, two steals and a block at
Saint Rose.
Kathleen Gladstone, Le Moyne (Jr., G, Cleveland, OH)
–Averaged 12.5 points, three steals, and 3.5 assists per game
this past week. Connected on 9-of-14 shots, including 5-of-8 from
beyond the arc. Scored 15 points in an 70-49 win over Saint
Rose.
Amanda Shannon, Merrimack (Jr., G, North Andover, Mass.) - Averaged
16.5 points this past week on 10-for-24 shooting in victories over
Saint Anselm and Le Moyne.
Cassaundra Thorpe, Saint Anselm (Sr., F, Portsmouth, N.H.) -
Averaged 14 points and five rebounds in a 1-1 week. Began the week
with a 16-point, two-rebound game versus Merrimack where she was
6-for-7 from the field. Had a 12-point, eight-rebound effort in the
upset win over nationally-ranked Assumption. Shot 64.7 percent from
the field and 85.7 from the free throw line for the week.
Logan Pintka, Saint Michael's (Fr., F, Niskayuna, N.Y.) - In the
win over American International, scored 17 points on 5-of-11
shooting from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw
line.
Emily Gottstein, Saint Rose (Sr., F, Albany, N.Y.) - Averaged a
double-double with 15.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week,
while shooting 53.8 percent (14-for-26) from the floor. In a
setback at Le Moyne, finished with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and
grabbed 14 rebounds. In a 73-66 triumph over #20 Franklin Pierce,
registered her fourth straight double-double with 16 points and 11
rebounds.
Alyssa Whitney, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., G, Somerville, Mass.)
- Totaled 14 points, four rebounds and four steals in a win over
Southern Connecticut, while shooting 5-of-6 from the floor.
Rochelle Johnson, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Norwalk, Conn.)
– Averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds, 2.5 steals and two
blocks over games last week. Scored 12 points, grabbed nine
rebounds, blocked three shots and collected three steals at
Stonehill. Poured in 23 points, snagged five rebounds, blocked a
shot and recorded two steals against Southern New Hampshire.
Kate Lynch, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Rumford, R.I.) - Averaged
19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 4.5 assists over two
games last week. Scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, recorded
seven steals, dished out five assists and blocked two shots at
Stonehill. Tallied 23 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four
steals against Southern New Hampshire.
Bethany Tighe, Stonehill (Jr., F, North Easton, Mass.) - Averaged
18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, while shooting 13-of-21(61-percent)
from the field, including all three three-pointers and all seven
free throws in a 2-0 week. In a win over Southern Connecticut,
recorded 22 points and added 10 rebounds. In the win at Pace,
collected 14 points and five rebounds.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Franklin Pierce: Sophomore
All-American Johannah Leedham became the fastest player in program
history (18th overall) to reach the 1,000-point plateau, doing so
in her 44th career game on Saturday at Saint Rose. Leedham's 1,000
points is tied for 17th in program history with Peggy McCarthy
(1983-87).
PACE: Senior guard Stephanie Klingele tied the school
career three-point record of 214 against Stonehill. Klingele is
currently tied with Andrea Padelsky, who played for Pace from
2001-06.
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Southern New Hampshire’s
5-for-5 effort from three-point land Saturday against Southern
Connecticut broke the previous school record for three-point field
goal percentage in a game. The Penmen were 4-for-4 in a game
against Springfield during the 1988-89 campaign. Southern New
Hampshire's current four-game win streak is the longest since a
four-game string from December 6-29, 1990.
