Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:
Stonehill: Stonehill, the top-ranked team in IWLCA Division II national circles for the 12th consecutive week, extended its NCAA Division II record winning streak to 33 straight matches dating back to April 2004 with three victories last week. The Skyhawks have now won 51 straight Northeast-10 contests dating back to April 2000 and are 64-1 all-time in league play after wins over Bryant, AIC and Saint Anselm. Junior M Tracey Hoffman (Nashua, N.H.) and sophomore M Kristin Darrell (West Islip, N.Y.) became the 15th and 16th players, respectively, in school history to eclipse the 100-career point mark in Stonehill's victory at AIC Thursday, as Darrell joined the "Century Club" in just 26 career matches, the fastest player to reach 100 points in school history. Darrell's eight-goal effort at AIC was one shy of the Stonehill single-game record of nine tallies set by Melissa Gross in 2003 against Saint Anselm. Senior G Lauren Stone (Guilderland, N.Y.), who has been named as Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week in 12 of the last 13 weeks dating back to last season, has won 30 straight decisions in net after posting 25 saves in wins over Bryant and Saint Anselm. The Skyhawks are now 90 games over .500 (112-22) all-time since the program's inception in 1999. Senior A Jenny McGrath (Milton, Mass.) tied the school single-game assists record with six helpers in the win at AIC Thursday. McGrath, Darrell, senior M Erin Acone (Bow, N.H.) and Hoffman accounted for 78 of Stonehill's 103 points last week, 76 percent of the Skyhawks' total offense. A showdown for first place in the league standings looms Friday evening when Stonehill hosts Merrimack and former Skyhawk standout Katie Lambert '03 in a re-match of last year's conference championship match? Bryant: The Bryant women's lacrosse team dropped its first match of the season, 17-10 to top-ranked Stonehill College Tuesday afternoon. The match was played on Bryant's new turf field on campus. Freshman Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA) had three goals for the Bulldogs? Assumption: Assumption opened up their 2006 schedule last Wednesday night against Southern Connecticut in the first ever lacrosse game held at night in the new Multi-Sport Stadium. Senior middie Jenny Mongeau (Westboro, MA/Westboro) and sophomore attack Jenna Goldstein (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) carried the bulk of the Greyhound offense as they combined to score 8 of the team's 13 goals. Mongeau had seven points last week and needs just 11 points to become the school's first ever 200-point scorer. Freshman keeper Nicole Johnson (Shrewsbury, MA/Shrewsbury) made 16 saves, 14 in the second half, to record her first collegiate win. Sophomore attack Katie Kistner (Needham, MA/Needham) had four goals (two in each game) and an assist last week.
