Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:
Stonehill: Stonehill, the top-ranked team in IWLCA Division II national circles for the 14th consecutive week dating back to April of last year, extended its NCAA Division II record winning streak to 35 straight with a pair of triumphs last week. Friday's victory over 10th-ranked Merrimack was the Skyhawks' sixth straight over a ranked opponent dating back to April 2005 and 52nd consecutive Northeast-10 victory dating back to April 2000. Senior M Erin Acone (Bow, N.H.) became the third player in school history to reach the 250 career point plateau with five goals in Friday's win over Merrimack, as she joins former Stonehill standouts Katie Lambert '03 and Colby Confer '05 in that club. Senior G Lauren Stone (Guilderland, N.Y.) notched her 31st straight win with an eight-save effort against Merrimack. Senior A Jenny McGrath (Milton, Mass.) tied her school single-game assist mark with six helpers in Sunday's win over New Haven, marking the second time this season she has recorded a six-assist effort. Following Tuesday's Northeast-10 road showdown at Bentley, Stonehill hosts third-ranked Adelphi in a key non-league match on Saturday afternoon in the first meeting between the schools since last year's NCAA national semi-finals? Merrimack: Stonehill was the first team this season to hold Merrimack to fewer than 10 goals in a game. Three Merrimack players have scored double-digit goals while five players have scored 10 or more points. Alison Colarusso leads the team in points, goals, and shots. Merrimack, for the first time in the history of the women's lacrosse program, appeared in the top 10 poll (ranking No. 9 and No. 10 during the last two weeks)? Assumption: Assumption improved to 2-1 on their new field as they picked up a win over Franklin Pierce last Saturday. Senior midfield Jenny Mongeau (Westboro, MA/Westboro) racked up 8 points (6 goals, 2 assists) against the Ravens and inched closer to the 200-point plateau. She will need two points on Tuesday against C.W. Post to reach that Greyhound milestone, as she would become the first Assumption lacrosse player, male or female, to reach 200 career points. Junior midfield Kristin Ford (Worcester, MA/St. Mark's) had a breakout game against Franklin Pierce as she recorded three goals and three assists in the win. Sophomore attack Jenna Goldstein (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) had a three-goal night against Southern New Hampshire. Tuesday's home game against C.W. Post will also mark the final home game of a three game home stand. Assumption will start a five-game road trip on Thursday when they travel to New Haven for a non-conference contest. The Greyhounds won't return home until April 22nd when they face Bentley? Bryant: The Bulldogs dropped a pair of games last week to nationally-ranked teams in Merrimack (No. 10) and CW Post (No. 2). Freshman Delia Glover (Marston Mills, MA) had four goals in the loss to CW Post on Saturday. Southern Connecticut: In the Owls' only action of the week, they picked up their first victory of 2006 with a 14-12 home non-league win over New Haven. Freshman Kaitlyn Janicki scored five times in the game and leads the Owls with 10 goals in three games.
