Assumption College: 'Abbey Capobianco Named Women's Lacrosse Coach'

WORCESTER, Mass. --- Former Bentley University
assistant coach ABBEY CAPOBIANCO has been named the head women's
lacrosse coach at Assumption College.
The announcement was made by Ted Paulauskas, Director of Athletics.
Capobianco replaces Linda Drapeau who coached the Greyhounds since
2007.
Capobianco is a former standout collegiate performer for both
Central Connecticut State University (New Britain, CT) and the
University of Massachusetts (Amherst, MA). She spent the 2010
season as an assistant for Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley
University.
She is fifth in Central Connecticut women's lacrosse history in
career points (94) and third in goals (78). She also owns two of
the top-five highest scoring seasons in school history, scoring
37-11--48 points as a sophomore and 41-5--46 points as a freshman.
Her 41 goals as a freshman is the third-best single-season total in
program history and her 37 goals as a sophomore is fourth all-time.
She also played soccer during two years at Central Connecticut,
helping the Blue Devils to the 2005 Northeast Conference
championship and a berth in the N.C.A.A. tournament.
She transferred to Massachusetts in 2007 and played lacrosse as a
junior and ice hockey as a senior. She has also coached for the
Massachusetts Elite Lacrosse Club. A native of Framingham, Mass.,
Capobianco was graduated from UMass in 2009 with a bachelors in
arts and humanities.
She was also accorded all-American honors in her senior year at
Framingham, MA High School and was a first-team Bay State
Conference lacrosse all-star for three seasons while scoring 117
goals as the leading scorer in Massachusetts as a junior and
senior. She captained her team to state final (24-2) as a senior
scoring 97 goals with 31 assists.
