Northeast-10 Player and Goalkeeper of the Week
Brittany Ester , Franklin Pierce ( Jr., GK, Toms River, N.J. )
-Remained unscored upon in postseason play as she extended her
shutout streak to 588:11 with a pair of clean sheets in the Ravens
NCAA Tournament third and fourth round victories. Made one key late
save to preserve the 1-0 victory over West Chester in the
quarterfinals to send the Ravens to their 14th Final Four. Posted
four saves in the 2-0 win over Saint Rose in the New England
Regional final. Has not allowed a goal in 560 postseason
minutes.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kelly Weygand, Franklin Pierce (Fr., D, Bridgewater, Mass. ) -Keyed
a Franklin Pierce defensive unit that limited its opposition to
just 3.5 shots per match in two NCAA Tournament shutout victories.
The Ravens allowed just 2.5 shots on target per match, including
just two shots in the 1-0 quarterfinal round victory over West
Chester (Pa.).
Weekly Honor Roll:
Gabriela Demoner, Franklin Pierce (Sr., M, Curitiba, Brazil) -
Helped lead the Ravens to their NCAA II record 14th Final Four
appearance with a goal and assist. Both came in the 2-0 victory
over Saint Rose.
Shona Franklin, Franklin Pierce (So., M, Leicester, England) -
Netted the lone goal in the 1-0 victory over West Chester (Pa.) as
the Ravens clinched their Division II record 14th trip to the Final
Four.
Jenna Giardina, Franklin Pierce (Sr., M, Pittsfield, Mass. ) -
Helped lead the Ravens to their NCAA II record 14th Final Four with
a goal and assist for three points. Both came in the 2-0 victory
over Saint Rose as Franklin Pierce clinched its 12th-straight New
England regional title. Netted the match-winning goal.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: The Ravens earned their NCAA Division II
record 14th Final Four berth, after a one-year absence, on Sunday.
Both the Raven men’s and women’s teams have earned
Final Four appearances in the same year for the second time in
three years. Franklin Pierce clinched its 12th-straight New England
Regional title with Friday’s 2-0 victory at Saint Rose.
Franklin Pierce’s defense has not allowed a goal in
postseason play this fall – a streak of 560 minutes. Junior
goalkeeper Brittany Ester (Toms River, N.J.) carries a shutout
streak of 588:11 into the Final Four. The Ravens are 5-0-2 against
nationally-ranked opponents this season, allowing just one goal
over the 670-minutes played against ranked opposition (0.13
GAA).
