Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:

Bryant: Bryant captured its third-straight Northeast-10 Conference tournament championship over the weekend, defeating Bentley 5-1 in the semifinals and Stonehill, 5-4 in the championship Sunday. Stonehill ended the Bulldogs' 35 match conference win streak the previous week and the Bulldogs needed every point possible Sunday as Stonehill stormed back from down 2-1 after doubles to tie the match 4-4 before Bryant's Lauren Mullen earned a win at No. 6 singles. Bryant will advance to the NCAA Regional (May 4-6) for the third-straight year? Stonehill: Stonehill set school record for single-season victories (16) and consecutive wins (15) during the Northeast-10 Championships, as Wednesday's quarterfinal triumph over Saint Anselm enabled the Skyhawks to surpass the 1992 squad's mark of 15 wins, while Saturday's semi-final round victory over Saint Michael's set the consecutive wins mark. Stonehill and Bryant met for the Northeast-10 title for the second straight season, and for the second time in 2006 the two teams played to a 5-4 decision, with the Bulldogs taking honors in Round 2. The Skyhawks have played in the Northeast-10 title match three times in the last five seasons. All six individuals in the Stonehill lineup earned all-conference honors in both singles and doubles play, including senior Anna Walsh (Dennis, Mass.) and sophomores Elise Clark (Spring Lake, N.J.) and Allison Bleakney (Lewiston, Maine), who earned first team singles accolades. Sophomore Daniella Granato (Concord, Mass.) was a first team selection in both singles and doubles play for the Skyhawks. Stonehill Head Coach Pam Arpe, the 2006 Northeast-10 Coach of the Year, has amassed a combined mark of 36-5 (.878) in both women's tennis and field hockey this year? Saint Michael's: The fifth-seeded Purple Knights advanced to the NE-10 Semifinals for the eight straight year on Wednesday with a 5-0 win at fourth-seeded Le Moyne. Saturday's semifinal loss at Stonehill marked the final collegiate match for senior captain Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass.). Also on Saturday, junior Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I.) was named to the NE-10 All-Conference Second Team for No. 3 Singles.
