Southern New Hampshires Chandronnait Named Womens Tennis Player of the Year

South Easton, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University
sophomore Amber Chandronnait (Bow, N.H.)
was named the 2009 Vern Cox Women’s Tennis Player of the
Year.
Chandronnait is currently 15-0 overall in the number one singles
position and finished Northeast-10 play with a perfect 12-0 record.
She was the only Northeast-10 No. 1 singles player to finish the
season undefeated. In doubles action, Chandronnait teamed up with
Cataline Echeverry in the number two doubles spot and is currently
12-1 overall. The duo finished conference play with a 9-1 record.
In addition, Chandronnait was also named to the All-Northeast-10
First Team in singles and the Second Team in doubles play.
Stonehill College’s Leah White (East Walpole,
Mass.) was named the 2009 Northeast-10 Freshman of
the Year. In just her first year of collegiate action, White
compiled a 13-3 overall record in the number three singles position
and finished conference play undefeated with a 12-0 mark. She also
teamed with Samantha Dircks at second doubles and the duo are
currently 12-4 overall and finished NE-10 action with an 8-1
record. White was also named to the All-Northeast-10 First Team and
the All-Rookie Team.
American International College’s senior Tyler
Rockefeller (Greenlawn, N.Y.) was the recipient of
the 2009 F. Paul Bogan Memorial Sportsmanship Award.
Stonehill’s head coach Pam Arpe
was named the 2009 Northeast-10 Coach of the Year. Arpe guided the
Skyhawks to their first Northeast-10 Regular Season Title since
2006 after finishing conference play undefeated at 12-0. Stonehill
is currently 18-3 overall.
The Vern Cox Player of the Year Award is named in honor of the
former longtime Springfield College head coach Vern Cox, while the
Bogan Memorial Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of the late F.
Paul Bogan, Commissioner of the Northeast-10 from 1995-1997.
With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest
NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23
championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500
student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II
conference.
