Northeast-10 Men’s Athlete of the Week
Stephen DeWitt, UMass Lowell (Gr., Ellsworth, Maine) - Placed
first and was named the Northeast-10 Runner of the Year at the
NE-10 Championship. Ran the five-mile course in 25:07.07 and led
UMass Lowell to a share of the championship with Stonehill.
Northeast-10 Women’s Athlete of the
Week
Nicole Radzik, Bryant (Sr., Sutton, Mass.) - Captured the overall
individual title at the Northeast-10 Championship. Earned Runner of
the Year honors, finishing the race in a time of 18:28.30.
Northeast-10 Men’s Freshman of the Week
Kevin Gill, Stonehill (Fr., Brockton, Mass.) – Finished
sixth overall at the Northeast-10 Championship with a time of
25:38. Earned Freshman of the Year honors as well as being named
First-Team All Conference.
Northeast-10 Women’s Freshman of the
Week
Lyra Clark, UMass Lowell (Fr., Nashua, N.H.) – Placed fifth
overall and tops among freshmen at the Northeast-10 Championship to
earn Freshman of the Year honors. Ran the 5K course in 19:08.9 and
led UMass Lowell to second place.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Melissa Nash, Bentley (Jr., Marshfield, Mass.) - Finished second
in the Northeast-10 Championships for the second straight year,
with a time of a time of 18:40.9 for 5,000 meters.
Stephan Ramirez, Bentley (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) - Was Bentley's
number one runner at the Northeast-10 Championship, placing seventh
overall with an 8,000-meter time of 25:40.7.
Jake McAndrew, Le Moyne (So., Oswego, N.Y.) - Placed 8th overall
at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of 25:48 and earned
Second-Team All Conference honors in the process.
Christina DaLomba, UMass Lowell (Jr., Marstons Mills, Mass.) -
Placed fourth overall and earned all-conference honors for the
third straight year at the Northeast-10 Championship. Ran the 5K
course in 19:02.5 and helped UMass Lowell to second place.
Joey DeWitt, UMass Lowell (Sr., Ellsworth, Maine) - Placed fourth
overall and earned all-conference status for the third straight
year at the Northeast-10 Championship. Covered the five-mile course
in 25:28.7 to lead UMass Lowell to a share of the team title.
Ruben Sanca, UMass Lowell (Jr., Boston, Mass.) - Placed second
overall for the second straight year at the Northeast-10
Championship. Led the team to a share of the championship with
Stonehill by running the five-mile course in 25:21.7.
Amanda Sousa, UMass Lowell (Sr., Peabody, Mass.) - Placed ninth
overall and earned all-conference honors for the third time at the
Northeast-10 Championship. Covered the 5K course in 19:29.3 and
helped UMass Lowell to second place.
Whitney Dunbar, Southern Connecticut (Gr., ) – Placed eighth
overall at the Northeast-10 Championships with a time of 19:26.
Earned Second-Team All Conference honors in the process.
Joseph Poulson, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Oxford, Conn.) –
Finished ninth overall at the Northeast-10 Championships with a
time of 25:52. Earned Second-Team All Conference honors.
Lesley Clunie, Stonehill (Newburyport, Mass.) - Crossed the line
at 19:16 to finish seventh overall at the Northeast-10
Championship. Helped lead Stonehill to the overall team title,
while earning First-Team All Conference honors.
Kristina Coriaty, Stonehill (Jr., Brockton, Mass.) - Finished
third with a time of 18:46 at the Northeast-10 Championship. Helped
lead Stonehill to the overall team title, while earning First-Team
All Conference honors.
Dave Metzger, Stonehill (Sr., Ellington, Conn.) – Finished
third overall and helped lead Stonehill to a share of the
Northeast-10 championship. Finished the 8K course in a time of
25.25.
Kelly O’Toole, Stonehill (Fr., Nashua, N.H.) - Completed the
5K course in 19:12, good for sixth place at the Northeast-10
Championships. Helped lead Stonehill to the overall team title,
while earning First-Team All Conference honors.
Joe Ryan, Stonehill (Sr., Chelmsford, Mass.) – Finished
fifth overall and helped lead Stonehill to a share of the
Northeast-10 championship. Finished the 8K course in a time of
25.36.
WEEKLY NOTES:
BENTLEY: The Bentley women finished third in the
Northeast-10 championships for the fifth straight year and had
their lowest point total since 1988. The Falcon men had exactly
their same finish as they did in 2006, fourth with 134
points.
UMASS LOWELL: UMass Lowell men captured a share of the
Northeast-10 Conference championship with Stonehill, enjoying the
title for the fifth time in its eight year history in the
Conference. Stephen DeWitt was named the NE-10 Runner of the Year,
marking the third time in the last four years a UML runner has been
decorated as such. Additionally, Head Coach Gary Gardner was named
the Coach of the Year for the third time in six years. On the
women’s side, UMass Lowell placed second for the third time
in four years led by junior Christina DaLomba (fourth) and freshman
Lyra Clark (fifth), the third UML runner in the last seven years to
earn NE-10 Freshman of the Year honors.
SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Junior Alex Brown (Hudson, N.H.)
established a school-record time for the second time this season at
Sunday's NE-10 championship. His 27:32 effort was 15 seconds better
than Brown's previous school record of 27:47 established earlier
this season at the Pop Crowell Invitational. Brown now holds three
of the top seven times in program history, all established this
season.
