Northeast-10 Player of the Week

Stacey Moragne, UMass Lowell (Sr., F, Evanston, IL) - Averaged of 20.7 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 56.8-percent (25-44) from the field, 50-percent (4-8) from 3-point range and 100-percent (8-8) from the free throw line in a 3-0 week. Had 15 points (6-12 FG) and seven rebounds in a 87-79 win over Pace. Followed with 30 points (12-17 FG, 2-2 3PTS, 4-4 FT)) and six rebounds in a 70-53 win at Southern Connecticut. Posted a double-double with 17 points (7-15 FG) and 12 rebounds in a 62-45 win over Saint Michael's.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Randy Wilson, Pace (Fr., F, Peekskill, NY) - Averaged 12 points (15-26 FG, 5-6 FT), six rebounds and 1.3 blocks last week. Against UMass Lowell, had 12 points (5-7 FT) and five rebounds. Against Franklin Pierce totaled 10 points and versus Assumption recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll:

Jenar Harrison, American International (Jr., F, Queens, NY) - Averaged 13.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in three games last week. Totaled 18 points and 11 rebounds in a setback at Bryant, followed by 15 points (4-7 FG, 7-8 FT) against Assumption.

John Huggins, American International (Sr., G, Philadelphia, PA) - Averaged 22 points (12-26 3PTS), 4.3 rebounds, three assists and 2.3 steals in three games last week. Totaled 25 points (10-17 FG) in a setback against Assumption.

Sean Cooke, Bentley (Sr., G, East Windsor, NJ) - In a 2-0 week, averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists with a 48-percent field goal percentage. Had 22 points (9-14 FG) in a 75-58 win at Saint Anselm. Recorded 11 points, seven rebounds and five helpers in a win over Saint Michael's.

Tim Forbes, Bentley (Sr., G, Attleboro, MA) - In wins over St. Michael's and Saint Anselm, averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals. Had 17 points (10-13 FT), and six assists, against Saint Michael's, and 18 points in the road win at Saint Anselm.

Jeff Holmes, Bentley (Jr., F, Westbrook, ME) In wins over Saint Michael's and Saint Anselm, averaged 17 points, seven rebounds and 1.5 blocks with a .737 field goal percentage. Had a career-best 22 points (8-11 FG) and nine rebounds in a 90-78 win over Saint Michael's, and 12 points (6-8 FG) in a 75-58 victory at Saint Anselm.

Pierre Sully, Franklin Pierce (Sr., G, Jamaica Plain, NY) - Averaged 13.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 3.3 steals and a block in a 2-1 week. Shot 45.9-percent (17-37) from the field. Netted a game-high 20 points (9-15 FG), to go with eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in win at Pace. Scored a team-high 11 points to go with three assists and four steals in a win over Le Moyne. Totaled ten points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and four steals against No. 25 Saint Rose.

Matt Cooper, Le Moyne (Jr., F, Fulton, NY) - In a 2-1 week, averaged 16 points and seven rebounds. Shot 63.6-percent (14-22) from the field and 76.9-percent (20-26) from the free throw line. He scored 19 points in a win over Merrimack and 16 with nine rebounds in an upset of No. 10 Stonehill.

Kent Leahy, Merrimack (Sr., F, Braintree, MA) - Averaged 14.7 points and seven rebounds in three games last week. Scored 20 points and had six rebounds in a setback to Le Moyne.

Neal Wellington, Pace (Sr., G, Wheaton, MD) Averaged 20 points, six assists and three rebounds in a 1-2 week. Poured in a career-high 29 points (8-18 FG, 4-10 3PTS, 9-10 FT) and had three steals against UMass Lowell. Had a double-double against Franklin Pierce, totaling 16 points and 10 assists. Against Assumption, dropped in 15 points and five assists.

Matt Cahill, Saint Anselm (Sr., G, Bridgewater, MA) - Averaged 21 points and 3.7 rebounds in three games last week. He shot 50-percent (21-42) from the field, 50-percent (13-26) from three-point land and a team-leading 88.9-percent (8-9) from the free throw line. Had an 18-point effort at 10th-ranked Stonehill, followed by a 24-point performance against Bentley and 21 points against Southern New Hampshire.

Brendan Mullins, Saint Michael's (Jr., G, Downers Grove, IL) - Averaged 17 points, 3.3 rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 1-2 week. Tallied 22 points (6-7 FT) versus Merrimack, and added 21 points (9-18 FG), four assists and three steals at Bentley. Recorded eight points and four rebounds at UMass Lowell.

Clayton Longmire, Saint Rose (Jr., F, Rochester, NY) - Averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 blocks during a 3-0 week. Had 15 points, six boards and three blocks in a win at Franklin Pierce. Finished with 15 points, four boards and a career-high five blocks in a win versus Southern New Hampshire. Recorded 16 points, six rebounds and five blocks in a win at Bryant.

Brad Shove, Saint Rose (Sr., G, Pittsfield, MA) - Averaged 18 points, 4.3 rebounds, two assists and 1.2 steals in a 3-0 week. Shot 54.8-percent (17-31) from the floor, including 66.7-percent (8-12) from beyond the arc, and 85.7-percent (12-14) from the free throw line. Had 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in a win at Franklin Pierce. Finished with 18 points (4-5 3 PTS) and three boards in a win versus Southern New Hampshire. Recorded 22 points (6-12 FG, 8-9 FT), three rebounds and a pair of assists in a win at Bryant.

Miguel Gonzalez, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., G, Jamaica-Queens, NY) - Averaged 16.7 points and 3.3 assists in a 1-2 week. Scored a career-high 30 points in a win over Southern Connecticut. Made 18-of-20 free throws over the three games.

Marquis Taylor, Stonehill (Sr., F, Los Angeles, CA) - Averaged 18.3 points, six rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in 1-2 week, including 23 points, five rebounds and four assists in 77-74 overtime triumph over Saint Anselm while adding double-double effort of 24 points and 10 boards in 71-69 setback to Merrimack. Shot 59-percent (20-34) from field, 60-percent (6-10) from three-point range and 90-percent (9-10) at foul line for week.

Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:

NORTHEAST-10: In the first NCAA Northeast Regional Poll (1/ 18) Northeast-10 teams held the top six spots of the 10 team poll. The poll included (1) Stonehill, (2) Saint Anselm, (3) UMass Lowell, (4) Southern New Hampshire, (5) Saint Rose, and (6) Bryant. In the most recent NABC Division II Coaches poll (1/17), Stonehill remained in the 10th spot and Saint Rose joined the poll ranked 25th. UMASS LOWELL: With Saturday's 62-45 win over Saint Michael's, coupled with Stonehill's 71-69 loss to Merrimack, UMass Lowell moved into a share of first place with Saint Rose as the two have identical 11-3 records entering Tuesday's games. It was revenge week at UMass Lowell this week as the River Hawks avenged early season losses to Pace (87-79) and Saint Michael's (62-45). Junior Kenny Webster (Richmond, VA) registered a career-high 18 points in Monday's 87-79 win over PaceSAINT ROSE: Saint Rose climbed back into the national rankings at #25 this week. The Golden Knights have won a season-high six straight, which represents the longest current unbeaten stretch among the 38 NCAA II schools in the Northeast region. Defense has been the key as they have done it by holding each of their last four opponents to less than 60 points. Saint Rose is now 15-4. The last time that occurred was in 1998-99 when the Golden Knights advanced to the "Elite Eight". Senior guard Terrance King (Hempstead, NY) has moved into fifth place on the College's all-time assists chart with 495. He is on track to become one of only four players in school annals to register more than 500 assists and 200 steals. Senior guard Brad Shove (Pittsfield, MA) has paced the team's scoring parade four times throughout the club's current six-game unbeaten stretch. Saint Rose is 8-1 on the year when he is its top point producerSTONEHILL: Stonehill, ranked 10th in the NABC Division II national poll for the second straight week, ascended to the top spot in the first NCAA Northeast Regional rankings released on Wednesday, as both the Skyhawk men's and women's squads sat atop their respective NCAA Northeast Regional polls. Monday's overtime triumph over Saint Anselm enabled Stonehill to match the longest winning streak in school history with 12 straight triumphs, matching the mark first set by the 1970-71 squad. Monday's win was also the Skyhawks' first over the Hawks at Merkert Gymnasium since December 9, 1997 and gave Stonehill its first regular season series sweep of Saint Anselm since the 1990-91 campaign. Senior F Marquis Taylor (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded his 12th career double-double in Saturday's setback to Merrimack and has moved up to 24th place on the Skyhawk career scoring list (1,069 points)BENTLEY: Bentley has won five straight overall and five in a row on the road. During the current road winning streak, the Falcons have held the opponents to a .328 field goal percentage and an average of 56.2 points. On Bentley's all-time scoring list, senior Tim Forbes (Attleboro, Mass.) needs four points to take over sixth place from Kevin Van Dam '02 and 28 to reach 1,600. Sean Cooke (East Windsor, N.J.) moved from 15th to a tie for 12th, with his total currently 1,460SAINT ANSELM: Senior All-America candidate Matt Cahill now has 1,845 career points in 105 games and continues to inch closer to the Saint Anselm all-time career scoring record. Cahill sits in second and trails all-time leader Chris Madigan by 165 points with nine regular-season games remaining. Cahill is also chasing the school's all-time record for three-pointers made in a career and with 277, is 23 shy of tying the record. Senior Jim Holsworth inches up that list as well with 225 in his career, good for 8th. Senior Darlington Okerulu is now fourth on the school's all-time rebounding list with 830 after his 11-rebound effort at SNHU on Saturday afternoon. Senior All-America candidate Jim Moore has 451 career free throws made and is just eight shy of eclipsing all-time Saint Anselm leader Todd Manuel, who nailed 458 from the charity stripe in his career. The Hawks' loss at Stonehill last week was their first this season against a nationally-ranked opponent. Saint Anselm defeated No. 2 Bentley and No. 12 Holy Family earlier this seasonSOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: Senior P.J. Young (Boston, MA) enters this week's action just 33 points shy of becoming the 40th member of SNHU's 1,000-Point Club. Fellow senior John Baiano (Staten, Island, NY) continues to move closer to the program record for career steals. He has total a league-best 41 steals this season and has recorded 280 steals in 101 career games. He stands 12 steals shy of breaking the school record for career steals (291) currently held by two-time All-American Cleveland Woods. Senior Miguel Gonzalez (Jamaica-Queens, NY) scored a career-high 30 points in SNHU's win over Southern Connecticut last Monday. He became the first SNHU player to score 30 or more points in a game since Mark Yeaton netted 31 in a OT loss to Saint Rose during the 2003-04 seasonFRANKLIN PIERCE: Senior forward Justin Powell (Brookline, Mass.) became the 26th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark over his career. He enters the week just 16 points shy of Robert Vaughn (1982-86) for 25th all-time with 1,019 career points, while he also ranks 17th all-time with 487 career rebounds. The Ravens are winners of seven of ten since Christmas after taking two-of-three last weekBRYANT: Bryant entered the week ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Northeast Regional Poll. John Williams (Springfield, MA) is currently ninth all-time with 1,428 career points and needs 47 to jump into eighth. Williams is also fourth with 311 career assists, needing just 8 assists to move into third all-time. His 133 steals also ranks him third all-time, needing just two steals to move into second all-timeAMERICAN INTERNATIONAL: John Huggins (Philadelphia, Pa.) moved into third place on AIC's career three-point list last week and now has 207 career threes, just three behind second place Rance Porter. AIC's seven-game home winning streak was snapped Thursday against Assumption, the longest home winning streak since a seven-game string that spanned the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons. 13 of AIC's 17 games this season have been decided by nine or fewer points, with the Yellow Jackets having a 9-4 record in those contestsSAINT MICHAEL'S: Senior BJ Robertson (Burlington, Vt.) became the 37th player in program history to score 1,000 career points with a free throw with 5:06 remaining at Bentley on Jan. 16. He currently has 1,028 points, 33rd in program history and just 46 points out of the top-25. Sophomore James Sorrentine (Pawtucket, R.I.) currently has 600 career points and 150 3-pointers in 45 collegiate contests. Junior Brendan Mullins (Downers Grove, Ill.) saw his string of six straight double-digit scoring games end at UMass Lowell on Saturday, but has played at least 34 minutes in five of the last six contests. Junior Milos Mirkovic (Novi Sad, Serbia) scored a career-high 10 points in Thursday's win versus MerrimackLE MOYNE: In Le Moyne's 66-42 win over Stonehill, the Dolphins defense yielded its lowest point total against a Northeast-10 Conference opponent. It marked the least allowed to a Division II foe since allowing 41 to Mercy in the first game of the 1995-96 season. The upset of No. 10 Stonehill was Le Moyne's biggest win over a ranked opponent since topping No. 9 California (Pa.) in the second game of the 1999-2000 season. Senior Sid Pond grabbed his 500th rebound in Le Moyne's 70-63 win at Merrimack. He is the 17th player in program-history to record 500 rebounds and ranks 16th on the all-time list with 520 career boards.
