NE10 Sets New Record with Release of Team Academic Excellence Awards

Record 80% of NE10 Teams Record a 3.0 GPA or Higher

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 Conference released its 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award winners today, honoring the programs with the highest team GPA in each of the conference’s 24 sports throughout the academic year.

It was a record year for the NE10 with 80 percent of the league’s 291 teams achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The 80% is the highest percentage in conference history since the team awards were first awarded in 2010. The mark is up from 75% from last year at the same time.

Additionally, 29 percent of NE10 teams posted a GPA of 3.3 or higher, while seven percent boasted team GPAs of 3.5 or higher. To see the complete list of teams that were honored today, please see below.

Remarkably, Adelphi had 12 team academic award winners, up from six a year ago. The Panthers currently field 22 NE10 sponsored-sports and led the conference in average grade point average in 12 of them.

Southern New Hampshire had three teams recognized which was second-best, while Bentley and Saint Rose each had two programs honored. The Southern New Hampshire volleyball team posted the single-highest average team GPA as the Penmen combined to average a 3.67 grade point average among the 12 student-athletes on the roster.

Four NE10 members had each of their athletic programs average a 3.0 or better. Adelphi, Bentley, Le Moyne, and Pace each acheived this prestigious accomplishment.
