Release of CHR Proves NE10 Student-Athletes Achieving at Record Levels
MANSFIELD, Mass. - The Northeast-10 Conference announced it's 2016 Fall Semester Commissioner's Honor Roll today, and the results show that the conference's student-athletes are succeeding at a high level in the classroom. Overall, 3,851 NE10 student-athletes were named to the the Commissioner’s Honor Roll (CHR) for the Fall 2016 semester. This total represents 62% of the league's student-athlete population.
In order to be eligible for CHR selection, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale during the semester. To see each school's list of honorees, please see the links below.
The 62% of the NE10's student-athletes establishes a new conference record, surpassing the 61% that were honored during the Spring 2016 semester.
Of the total number of NE10 student-athletes that were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, 215 posted a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 212 4.0 GPA's is 31 more than were recorded during the 2015 Spring semester, an increase of 18%.
14 of the conference's 15 member institutions had at least 50% of their total student-athlete population claim NE10 Commissioner Honor Roll accolades.
"We continue to be so proud and impressed by our student-athletes' commitment to succeeding at a high level in the classroom," said NE10 Commissioner Julie Ruppert. "Not only is this outstanding news for the NE10, it once again proves that our member institutions are doing a terrific job of recruiting outstanding student-athletes. I could not be happier."
Bentley, which also led during the spring semester, had the highest total of student-athletes earn CHR recognition with 368 earning the distinction. Adelphi, once again, had the highest percentage of student-athletes earning a 3.0 GPA or higher with 75% accomplishing the mark.
Overall, five NE10 schools had at least 70% of their student-athletes post a 3.0 GPA or greater during the fall semester.
Merrimack had the second-most honorees with 295, while Assumption was third with 291. They were followed by Franklin Pierce (283) and Adelphi (273).
Le Moyne had the second-highest percentage behind Adelphi with 74% of their student-athletes posting a 3.0 GPA or higher, followed by Bentley (73%), Pace (72%) and Southern New hampshire (72%). Saint Rose (69%), Franklin Pierce (68%), Saint Michael's (68%), and were all above 60% as a whole
The highest total of student-athletes that were recognized came from the sport of football with a total of 402 (up 25 student-athletes from the spring). Women’s track and field was next with 332 honorees followed by women’s soccer (331), baseball (296) and men’s lacrosse (268).
