West Haven, Conn. - The University of New Haven Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held its annual "SAAC Kickoff" event Monday evening at DellaCamera Stadium on the University's North Campus. The event gathered each of the Chargers' 16 varsity sports teams for an evening of food and games.
The games include the "1st Charger Olympics" which each of the 16 teams also participated in. As part of the olympics student-athletes were assigned random teams which were led by a team captain, a member of the UNH coaching staff or athletic administration. The teams then participated in a number of games which took place all over the north campus.
The events all started when each of the team captains were taught to "dougie" by their team members. An instructional video, followed by the dance took place on DellaCamera Stadium. The teams then broke up across north campus for 45 minutes and had the opportunity to earn points in 12 different games. Some of the games include tug-a-war, the dizzy bat and corn hole.

Members of the team included student-athletes from the baseball, football, men's soccer, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, women's volleyball and women's cross country/track & field teams. Each team that had a member on the winning team received 10 Charger Cup points to open the 2011-12 academic year.
