MANSFIELD, Mass. - Folllowing a month in which they went 16-3 overall, and 7-3 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents, the New Haven Baseball team has been selected as the NE10 Team of the Month for March of 2018. The Chargers narrowly edged out a pair of programs from Adelphi - women's lacrosse and softball - and the Le Moyne men's lacrosse team, in one of the closest votes in the history of this honor.
New Haven received 29% of the more than 400 votes that were cast by NE10 fans, slightly outgaining the Adelphi women's lacrosse team and the Adelphi softball team, which each received 25% of the votes. The Dolphins were not far behind, as their lacrosse program received 21% of the votes that were submitted. Overall, the Chargers received 122 votes to slightly outgain the Panthers' lacrosse squad (105) and their softball team (103).
During the month of March, New Haven began the month with 12 consecutive wins and rose to No. 5 in the national rankings. The Chargers outscored their opposition 115-45 over the 19 games, and their pitching staff posted an impressive five shutouts during the month.
New Haven was selected through a vote the NE10 conducted on its social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), in which more than 400 people voted.
