Three Northeast-10 Soccer Teams Ranked in Top-10 Nationally to Start 2014 Season

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Two women's teams and one men's team representing the Northeast-10 Conference appear in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Preseason Polls, which were released last week.

On the men's side, Southern New Hampshire University earned the No. 1 ranking, coming off their national-title winning season from a year ago. The Penmen defeated Carson-Newman, 2-1, last year in Evans, Georgia to claim the 2013 title.

American International College and The College of Saint Rose were both ranked in the top ten in the women's national rankings. American Int'l is fourth to begin the 2014 season, while Saint Rose checks in sixth.

The Yellow Jackets lost in the national semifinals a year ago to defending national champion Grand Valley State, while Saint Rose fell to American Int'l in the NCAA Tournament in 2013.

THe Northeast-10 Conference will be announcing its coaches' polls in men's and women's soccer later this month. On Tuesday, August 26th with the women's soccer poll will be released with the men's the following day.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.

Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sports sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
