AIC to Host 15th Annual NE-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships



MANSFIELD, Mass. – The 2016 Northeast-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place on Friday, May 6 through Saturday, May 7 and will be hosted by American International College. It was announced on Thursday that the American International men's team and Stonehill women's team were projected to claim team titles according to the NE-10 Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll.

The Yellow Jackets' men's squad, NE-10 Champions during the indoor season, collected 96 points and six first place votes to take the top spot in the outdoor poll. The Skyhawks' women, who won the indoor title this past season, garnered 116 points and eight votes for first place.

Just two points behind AIC on the men's side, Southern Connecticut was second with 94 total points and four first-place nods. The Owls were a close second on the women's front as well, collecting 112 points and the other four first-place votes. Southern Connecticut has won the NE-10 men's outdoor title every season since 2002, including a sweep of both the men's and women's titles last season.

Franklin Pierce gathered 80 points and the lone other vote for first place on the men's side, while Stonehill (71 pts.) and Merrimack (57) rounded out the top five. In the women's poll, Merrimack was third with 100 points, while American International and New Haven tied for fourth with 79 points.

The first event of the 2016 NE-10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday.
