FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's Associate Director of Athletics Tacy Lincoln announced the hire of Kim Lissinna as women's volleyball head coach recently. Lissinna brings a wealth of experience as a college coach at the NCAA Division I and II and junior college levels.
"It is a huge honor to be selected for this role," said Lissinna. "During my visit, I was inspired by the desire of the student-athletes. Saint Michael's has the potential to be a formidable contender in the Northeast-10 Conference, and I am looking forward to helping them realize this potential. I am grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to show the community what Purple Knight volleyball can achieve."
A native of Kelvington, Saskatchewan, Lissinna coached at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore., for the past four years, serving as head coach for the most recent two. Between her second year as an assistant coach and her final year as head coach, she helped the Saints nearly triple their Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) win total, as Mount Hood was 8-6 in the league in 2017 - its first time over .500 in conference play in four years - while going 18-19 overall. The Saints also earned their initial postseason berth since 2013. During her two years as head coach, Lissinna's student-athletes claimed four conference all-star accolades while earning six NWAC academic laurels.
"We are thrilled to have Kim join our Saint Michael's team," said Lincoln. "I have no doubt that Kim's passion for, and dedication to, the sport of volleyball will enhance the experience for our student-athletes. I am also confident that her extensive background as both a student-athlete and coach will help to lead the program to a whole new level."
Prior to her stint in Oregon, Lissinna was an assistant coach at Division I Charleston Southern (S.C.) University for the 2012 and 2013 seasons while serving as interim head coach during the 2012-13 offseason. The Buccaneers qualified for the Big South Conference Tournament during her first season. Lissinna was as an assistant coach at Division II Minot State (N.D.) University in 2011, when the Beavers posted an 18-16 mark.
Lissinna has been coaching since her youth in Saskatchewan, including helping her U14 Pipestone Crocs club squad win a provincial bronze medal while coaching between 2004 and 2007, her four years of high school. While in Utah, she also coached with the Xtreme Volleyball Club U16 team as a college undergraduate.
During her collegiate career, Lissinna was a starting setter at Division I Weber State (Utah) University, where she remains fifth in program history in career assists (2,594). A Big Sky Conference All-Academic pick as a first-year, Lissinna was a senior captain. She completed her degree in athletic therapy in 2011.
